Template:GBdot Sale is a town in the borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, south of the Mersey, southwest of Manchester itself, between Stretford and Altrincham.

It was formerly a separate town, and before that a village. Historically Sale is in Cheshire - it became an Urban District and, later, with Ashton-upon-Mersey, the Municipal Borough of Sale; however, it ceased to be part of the administrative County of Cheshire in 1974 upon local government reorganisation. Nonetheless, the Royal Mail continues to list the town's postal county as Cheshire. Sale is blessed by good transport links including numerous bus services and a "Metrolink" light rail service. Sale has a population of around 60,000.

The Sale Sharks rugby union team plays in the Guinness Premiership. Its home matches take place in Stockport.

James Joule was a notable resident of Sale.

BBC DJ and presenter Mark Chapman was a more recent resident of Sale.
