William Allen High School is a public high school located in Allentown, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The school, which is located at 126 North 17th Street in Allentown, serves students from the western and southern parts of the city. Allentown's other public high school, Dieruff High School (founded in 1960), serves students from the eastern and northern parts of the city.

History

The main building of William Allen High School was finished in 1916 as Allentown High School. The school was renamed William Allen High School in 1960. The school is named after William Allen, who served as one of the first mayors of Philadelphia and was instrumental in the building of the city's Independence Hall, the birthplace of American democracy. The city of Allentown also is named for him.
