Snowdon (in Welsh, "Yr Wyddfa") is the highest mountain in Wales. The surrounding district, Snowdonia, was the first of the three National Parks of Wales to be designated, in 1951. It is 838 square miles or 2170 square kilometres in area, and is extremely popular as a centre for walking holidays.
