WikiProject Climate

Today I created WikiProject Climate and its first step toward implementation, the Climate table infobox template.

Can't wait till this gets off the ground; it'll add a whole new depth to the huge array of information already provided through WikiProject Cities. In a way, I consider this a bit of a sister project to that one.

Ironic that the post above is telling you not to edit user pages and I am reporting doing exactly that to you! The difference of course is that I have merely moved your text, I have no intention of changing it.

I saw the two articles you created in the main namespace and took the view that if they were nominated for Wikipedia:Votes for deletion (VfD), the conclusion would probably be Delete - not notable. Sorry if that hurts your feelings, but I am just being realistic. However since you have kindly given yourself a User Id, I have taken the alternative route of userifying the articles.

If you consider that you are notable, you can re-instate the articles in the main namespace (since there is no edit history to speak of, I think this case a copy-and-paste would be acceptable) but before doing so please consider the possibility of their being nominated for VfD.

Thanks for uploading Image:Durban.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags.

March 20 Update I'll be responsible for many of the updates you see regarding the developing Tropical Cyclone Wati.

Today I'm working on expanding the page for Green Island (Aus) (I'll be visiting there next week in fact), and I hope to complete my work on the Crowned Eagle.

Crowned Eagle

  • While I'm grateful for your concern, unfortunately I'm going to have to revert this. Google search for Crowned Eagle and it is indeed Stephanoaetus coronatus that shows up exclusively on the first 5 pages at least. Please note that I'm an experienced birder and thus consider myself almost an authority on the matter. This is a matter of notablity, and a revert is required. Should you wish to debate this further, I'll be happy to get a mediation going over it.

  • I'm afraid your solution isn't going to work. The South Aerican bird does not have an alternative name, the African bird does. Why not use it? The situation now is that all the links on Wikipedia for both birds are redirecting to the African bird, and none to the South American bird. Smallweed 09:21, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • OK I stand corrected, there is an alternative common name for the South American bird - Crowned Solitary Eagle. I'll move my article there and hopefully this will avoid probelms in the future. All the best Smallweed 10:08, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
