The observatory of Thuringia in Tautenburg, Germany (Thüringer Landessternwarte Tautenburg) exists since 1960, belonging to the German Academy of Sciences Berlin. In 1992 it was acquired by the state of Thuringia. It has the larget telescope in Germany (2 meters), which was produced by Carl Zeiss Jena.

On 5 April 2005 the observatory observed an exoplanet around the star HD 13189, which gave the observatory its international reputation.
