Oviedo is the capital town of Principado de Asturias. It has approximately 180.000 inhabitants (2002).

Oviedo is, also, the commercial and business capital, and the administrative and universitary centre of the region.


Major pieces or art

  • Cathedral, from 14th century.
  • Cámara Santa de Oviedo. It is located in the Cathedral, and it is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage.


Culture

Oviedo is the headquarter of the galardon called Premios Príncipe de Asturias.
