Originating from the ancient Phoenician and Canaanite god of storms, who was subsumed into an aspect of Baal, see Hadad.

Haddad is also a common Levantine last name, meaning "Smith"; people with this name included Major Saad Haddad. Other versions are Al Haddad and El Haddad

Haddad is also one of the trio of "Whitman, Price, and Haddad", "last season's winners" on the fictional TV show The Running Man.

Unlike what is thought, Haddad family doesn't originate from blacksmith workers, the name descends directly from the Phoenician god name, the proof to this is that the family is restricted in one sect in a multisectarian region, while there were blacksmiths all over the area.

During the 6th century, the Haddads were monarchs of the syrian ortodox christian kingdom sponsored by the Byzantine church. (the people belonging to this church is the assyrians, kaldeans and the syriacs)
