Marieke Hardy
Marieke Hardy was born in 1973 and currently lives in Melbourne. Granddaughter of the better known Frank Hardy, who authored the communist manifesto 'Power Without Glory,' Marieke has attempted to follow in her grandfather's footsteps. In 2005 her first notable attempt to break into the world of media occured with the brief airing of the melodrama 'Last Man Standing,' a quirky though lacking attempt to create an equivalent 'Sex and the City' for men. Unfortunately the series was axed due to low ratings and general lack of popular appeal.
During her teenage years Hardy appeared as a teenager in bit parts on Australian television programs such as 'Neighbours,' 'A Country Practise' and small advertisements. Sadly her fledgling acting career slowed as her looks matured. Hardy then turned her hand to fashion, pioneering the obscure fashion label 'Polichiks.' The Polichiks line featured Mark Latham boxer shorts and cushions with a picture of Bob Brown, Tasmanian communist maverick emblazoned on the front. Seeking the ever elusive success in yet another industry, Hardy entered the world of radio. Here, due to the non-visual nature of radio broadcasting she has been allowed to maintain a low-key job hosting a little known show on a community radio station under a false name.
Hardy has married three times and is currently married, though living separately from her spouse and seeing other people. She spends most of her time on the internet updating her blog, which is read by a supportive circle of her closest friends.
