Power Stone 2 is a multiplayer fighting game that built on the innovative gameplay introduced by its predecessor. A la Super Smash Bros, Power Stone 2 allows the player to choose between multiple characters and use the environment around them. However, while Super Smash Bros. relies on a 2D point of view, Power Stone takes it a step further and makes it 3D.
Power Stone 2 originated as an arcade game, like many others on the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast served as a testing ground for successful arcade games. Despite relative popularity, Power Stone and this sequel would remain the only games in the series.

An innovative addition to Power Stone 2 was the adventure mode, which is much akin to an Action-RPG layout. Players can get coins and items which they can then in turn transform into other things, allowing for much replayability.
