Latvia is a small country in Eastern Europe, sometimes historically referred to as Livonia. The Latvian capital city is Riga. Latvia borders on Estonia, Russia, Belarus, Lithuania, and the Baltic Sea. It is one of the three Baltic Republics and was part the Soviet Union from 1940 until 1991.
