The Discworld series by Terry Pratchett is the most signicant work in comic fantasy in recent decades and includes a cast of several hundred characters.

Some of the best-known inhabitants of the Discworld include:

    • Galder Weatherwax (304th Chancellor of UU)
    • The Librarian (By happy accident, an Orangutan. Definitely NOT a monkey)
    • Rincewind the Wizzard (sic); after extensive (involuntary) tours of the far regions of the Disc, he is now the Lecturer in Cruel and Unusual Geography
    • Ponder Stibbons, formerly a postgraduate student in the High Energy Magic building, now the Head of Inadvisably Applied Magic.
