The camera angle or camera setup marks the specific location at which a camera is placed to take a shot. A shot may be taken from several camera angles and these need to be related back to the shot during film production.

Recording a camera angle will include the lens used and its settings.

Camera angles are often written as letters.

For example: "scene 24, C, take 3".

Camera angle letters are spoken using one of two systems:

The International Radio Operators phonetic alphabet:

  • Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliet, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, X-Ray, Yankee, Zulu.

The American Radio Relay League phonetic alphabet:

  • Alan, Baker, Charlie, David, Edward, Frank, George, Henry, Ida, John, King, Lewis, Mary, Nancy, Otto, Peter, Queen, Robert, Susan, Thomas, Union, Victor, William, X-Ray, Young, Zebra.

For example: "scene 24, Charlie, take 3".
