The Age of Steel is an episode in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It is the second part of a two-part story, the first part being Rise of the Cybermen. The episode is scheduled for broadcast on May 20 2006.

Synopsis

Template:Spoiler The story features the Cybermen and takes place on a parallel Earth. This episode follows on from Rise of the Cybermen. The plans of John Lumic to convert the world to Cybermen is now in full force, and The Doctor, Rose and Mickey have to find a way to stop him and to defeat their metal foes.

  1. The title of this episode was announced in Doctor Who Magazine #367.
  2. According to Doctor Who Magazine, this episode will be released as a "vanilla" DVD along with Rise of the Cybermen and The Idiot's Lantern.
  3. Mickey Smith will leave in this episode, according to a report in a UK tabloid paper[1]
  4. This episode is broadcast on the tenth anniversary of Third Doctor actor Jon Pertwee's death. Ironically, the Third Doctor never faced the Cybermen in his five-season tenure.
  5. Gethin Jones from Blue Peter was a Cyberman in this episode.
  6. A Cybercontroller will appear in this episode.
