Kevin Earl Federline (born March 21, 1978, in Fresno County, California, USA) is an American celebrity. Federline appeared in the movie, You Got Served, and worked as a dancer for some of the biggest acts in entertainment, including his future wife, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake. On September 16, 2004, Federline married Spears. Their son, Sean Preston Federline, was born on September 14, 2005. Federline has two children with actress Shar Jackson, daughter, Kori (b. July 31, 2002), and son, Kaleb (b. July 20, 2004). Federline co-starred with Spears on the reality television show Britney and Kevin: Chaotic, which consisted of home videos shot by the couple. Federline has garnered the nickname "K-Fed" in the media, although he has expressed disdain for the moniker.

Before meeting Spears, Federline worked as a back-up dancer for Spears' former love interest, Justin Timberlake, and the band LFO, Spears' opening act. Federline also appeared as a dancer in the film You Got Served.

The relationship between Spears and Federline, chronicled in Chaotic, began with their meeting at a Hollywood club called Joseph's. Spears soon invited him on her European tour, The Onyx Hotel Tour, and she proposed to Federline on the plane ride back from the tour.

On the night of September 18, 2004, two months after his second child was born to actress Shar Jackson, Federline and Spears engaged in a surprise wedding ceremony at a private home in Studio City, California. Although not legally binding, this "faux wedding" allowed the couple to finalize legal details of their marriage without the deadline of an upcoming ceremony. Such details were reported by The Smoking Gun website to have been the legal minutia of a prenuptial agreement, although the terms of this agreement have been disputed in the tabloid press and the Internet, and no evidence of the existence of such documents has emerged. Spears and Federline have a son, Sean Preston Federline, born September 14, 2005 in Santa Monica, California. Spears recently announced that the couple is expecting another child.

Musical career

Federline's first studio album, Playing with Fire, is expected in mid-August 2006, Federline and his representative Marylin Lopez confirmed. A minute-long clip from the track "Y'all Ain't Ready" circulated on the Internet in November 2005 to parody and ridicule. Interestingly, in the song Federline refers to the paparazzi that follow him and Spears as "Pavarottis". Opinions vary as to whether this was intentional. Federline released his first single, "PopoZão", on New Year's Day, 2006, which was met with similar reception. The song is a re-imagining of a Brazilian dance track, whose title, PopoZão, is Brazilian slang roughly translated as "big or nice ass".

In Spring of 2006, a track titled "America's Most Hated" was released on Kevin's official MySpace page. A stir was raised when it was revealed that Federline had used an uncleared sample from Thomas Dolby; which had been used previously, and legally, by Mobb Deep. Federline also released a clip of an upcoming single called "Snap." He confirmed on March 28, 2006 that he will perform a promotional club tour in major cities such as New York and Los Angeles. Federline reported that he will not be performing on the tour but rather he will be observing fans' reactions to tracks played by a DJ.

Public reception

Federline has been the subject of ongoing ridicule on the World Wide Web and on television by the likes of late-night talk show host Conan O'Brien, and E! cable channel's The Soup. On the sketch comedy television series Saturday Night Live, host Ashton Kutcher starred in a commercial parody as Federline for "Federline Briefs" — tight brief-style underwear with the tagline "Man panties for wiggers." In the parody, Kutcher repeats "Federline, yo" several times. Kutcher then says, "I look like I might stink, yo", and after assessing his personal odor, continues, "but I don't."

In an episode of the animated series Family Guy, a fantasy sequence features Federline asking a magic mirror how he can "look like a douchebag today." The mirror tells him to not shave, shower, or change clothing, and to "walk around with an undeserved sense of accomplishment." The website Fark.com has repeatedly referred to Federline and Spears as Cletus and Brandine, the "slack-jawed yokels" from The Simpsons.

Trivia

  • Federline and Spears began dating while Jackson was still pregnant with Kaleb, and Jackson reportedly learned of their relationship through the tabloid press.
  • Federline has become notorious in the media for his heavy smoking, and was criticized in the media for continuing to smoke around his pregnant wife early on in her pregnancy. He is often photographed with a cigarette in hand.

  • According to the lyrics of his latest rap single, "America's Most Hated", Federline boasts a net worth of $50,000,000, which would make him among the wealthiest celebrities in the US; however, it should be noted that rap lyrics often contain unrealistic boasts of wealth.
  • Federline owns a Ferrari 360 Spider that was given to him by Britney Spears. Federline had the car's brake calipers repainted to read "Federline" instead of "Ferrari". [1].
  • A sound-alike known as "Kevin Feder-leezy" (is played by Psycho-Mike of the Kevin and Bean show) occasionally appears on Los Angeles radio in mockery of Federline.
