Lucien van der Walt is a South African writer and academic, with an activist background. His work engages with trade unionism, particularly in southern Africa, neo-liberal restructuring, and with the anarchist and syndicalist tradition of Mikhail Bakunin and Peter Kropotkin. He is a former activist in the National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union, served as a media officer in the Anti-Privatisation Forum, and is best known for his book, with Michael Schmidt, Black Flame: The Revolutionary Class Politics of Anarchism and Syndicalism (Counter-Power vol. 1).
