8 Foot Sativa is a New Zealand, Death Metal / Thrash Metal / Melodic Metal band, formed in 1998. They are often known by their fans as "8 Foot". Their most famous single is the Indie self titled "8 Foot Sativa".

The band has toured and released albums internationally.

8 Foot Sativa got it's name after a 8 foot marijuanna plant an 'associate' of the band once had; Cannabis Sativa being the scientific name for marijuana.

Their most recent album Poison of Ages is due to be released in late July.

Early Lineup 1

In this early lineup, 8 Foot Sativa played Pantera, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Sepultura, Metallica and Slayer covers.

Early Lineup 2

The new member, Ari, was the first to do originals for 8 Foot Sativa. The band met Ari at the music school they taught at, where he was doing Drums. Ari wrote the lyrics to Fuel Set, Kick it all Away and Engine. He disappeared for a couple of years, so new member Justin 'Jackhammer' Niessen became the vocalist the vocalist.

Peter 'Speed' Young reportedly left due to musical differences.

Matt Sheppard & Sam Sheppard left 8 Foot Sativa after the Breed the Pain tour. They reformed their previous band, Sinate. They joined forces with 8 Foot Sativa's guitar technician Sean Parkinson and Antony "Colonel" Folwell from the band Reprobate.

September, 2005 Line-Up

Justin 'Jackhammer' Niessen toured with the band temporarily from 9th of September, 2005 until 17th of September playing a four concert tour around New Zealand. This tour also saw new-comers William Cleverdon, and Corey Friedlander join the band. Justin 'Jackhammer' Niesson and the band pulled out songs mainly from ''Hate Made Me'' and ''Season for Assault'', the albums which Jackhammer was in the band for.

Late 2005 Line-Up

Steven Westerberg, drummer from Carnal Forge, did the session work on Poison of Ages.William Cleverdon leaves the band shortly after recording album due to various reasons.
