Introduction
CityNightLine's main objective has always been to get you from point A to point B as fast as possible and as comfortable as possible. There are a variety of sevices that you can voyage on including the Couchette, the Sleeping Car, and the Laying chair car.
The Sleeping Car
The Sleeping Car is always in one of CityNightLine's custom-made double-decker carriages. The double decker carriages are part of the Economy and Deluxe Sleeping Car services.
The Deluxe compartment
The Deluxe compartment, is the most exclusive of all Night Train compartments. It contains a shower, a toilet (which is not a chamber pot) and a wash baisin. This type of compartment is found on the upper levels of the the double-decker.
CityNightLine's description of the Deluxe compartment is: You are bound to enjoy your spacious and comfortable compartment with shower, WC, lounge area and panorama windows where peace and quiet are guaranteed. Put your feet up and let our hospitable crew take care of you: they will look after your every need, from a glass of Prosecco to welcome you to the train, to the magazines they bring you to read in bed.
In an 80 x 190 cm bed, enjoy sweet dreams en route to your destination under cosy covers.
Depending on how you feel, enjoy your evening meal in your own compartment. In the morning, we will wake you with fresh coffee or tea, croissants, muesli, cold cuts and cheese.
Single and Double: With Deluxe Single, enjoy the peace and quiet of your own compartment.
With Deluxe Double, share the compartment with your travelling companion or a person of your own sex.
The Economy Compartments
There are 3 different economy compartments, however these can still all be found on the Double Decker carriage: Economy Single: This is one compartment, with access by going down a small flight (about 4 steps) of stairs. This compartment may be shared with one other person (when this is done the compartment is called Economy Double). To eat breakfast, the beds have to be changed back into seats.
Economy Family: This is simply two Economy single compartments that have been linked together, as the Economy Single doors can be unlocked from their tracks and placed onto another straight one, to unify two compartments.
Economy Vierer: This compartment is very similar to a Couchette. It is simply two bunk beds both parallel to each other. These beds will changed into chairs to be able to eat.

This is the perfect choice if you can do without luxury, but don’t wish to sacrifice comfort. A bottle of mineral water, a washbasin as well as fresh, fluffy towels are all part of the service. On the Komet, Sirius, Aurora and Vega lines there is a shower at the end of the corridor in one of the sleepers.
Comfortable beds and cosy, down-filled duvets make sure you have a relaxing night. And breakfast in the compartment will ensure you have a sunny start to the day.
Single, Double and Four Person: Book Economy Single, if you prefer complete quiet and privacy throughout your journey. In Economy Double you share the compartment with one other person, either your travelling companion or a person of your own sex. Economy Four Person is the perfect answer for groups. If you are travelling alone, you share the compartment with people of your own sex. In the category Eco Family, two adjacent Economy Double compartments are combined. Families of four who book their outward and return journey with CityNightLine benefit from family rates.
Reclining Seat Cars
This is a carriage filled with aeroplane-like chairs. These canrecline backwards to allow for more comfort to sleep. CityNightLine's description is:
Reading, dozing, sleeping, eating – your seat reclines to suit your individual needs. Helped by small details such as the blanket or cushion for your neck (for an extra charge) or the reading lamp in the headrest. The adjustable seat gives you plenty of legroom.
The generous stow space is sufficient even for larger pieces of luggage. The WC and washing facilities are at either end of the carriage. Our crew makes sure that you can sleep in peace and quiet, with continuous checks. Get the day off to a good start with breakfast in the Bar and Lounge Car (not included in the fare).
