Ranjit Kanwilkar (born August 30, 1960, in Akola) played Cricket for Karnataka and Railways as an All-rounder. He was one of the most promising players of India domestic cricket. He career was cut short when the Bangalore - Kanyakumari Island Express train, he was travelling derailed on the Peruman bridge over Ashtamudi Lake, near Perinadu, Kollam, Kerala, India and fell into the lake. He was one among the 105 people killed on July 8, 1988.
