Andy Nicholson plays bass and sings backing vocals in Arctic Monkeys, a band from Sheffield, United Kingdom.
DJing
Andy is known for playing DJ sets with Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders at show after-parties when the band go on tour{citation needed}. On their April tour, however, Matt was replaced by Reverend from Arctic Monkeys' support act, Reverend and The Makers[citation needed].
Basses
Andy has been seen playing several basses. The first was an Epiphone Thunderbird which Andy can be seen playing in photos of early gigs[citation needed]. The next seen was a white Fender Precision that has recently disappeared from live shows[citation needed]. His most used bass is a natural wood-bodied Precision. This can be seen in the performance video for I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor and is still his most-used during performances[citation needed]. His most recent addition is a Rickenbacker 2030 which he now uses for many of the band's live shows[citation needed].
Andy is the only member of the band who changes instruments during shows[citation needed]. Jamie Cook and Alex Turner prefer to simply re-tune one guitar rather than having multiple guitars with different tunings.
Resting
As of june 2006 Andy has been given time off from touring in America with the rest of the band due to stress.
