Hoax?
The following was entered by an anon. whose other edit was a hoax: "And with regard to his previous association with the group D-Generation X (DX) and their raunchy language and behavior, Shawn Michaels has given up such behavior and refrained from sexual innuendo and cursing on RAW. This, because, of his Christian conversion." --Wetman 10:39, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
- Bad grammar aside, this is true. --Chrysaor 05:37, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
Sherri Martel
I think things would be clearer referring to Sherri Martel as Sherri instead of Martel. The latter makes me, and I suspect others, think more of Rick Martel.

I just fixed a sentence that makes a little more sense and true to what happen on Raw dating 12/26/05 J. C.
Sweet Chin Music origins
Shawn Michaels began his career in Texas, and for a time competed in World Class Championship Wrestling, as well as Texas All-Star and Southwest Championship Wrestling. Chris Adams was wrestling in all of these federations, and I will check to see if these two ever faced each other; but in any event, Shawn was amazed at the abilities Chris had as well as his finisher, the superkick. So Shawn studied the manuever, but did not really begin using it until after joining the WWF. Marty Jannetty also used the superkick as well. Once Shawn became famous, he would nickname his superkick "Sweet Chin Music". See the article "Superkick" for details, and also check out www.thesuperkick.net.
Reasons on trimming intro.
Lets dissect the points:
- "He calls himself "The showstopper, the icon, the headliner, the main event." -Lets face it, these may be his words, but they really don't fit well with an encyclopedia introduction. In fact it's in the Nicknames section [1].
- Throughout his continuing career, he has been known for many of his legendary Pay-per-view matches. True, but it's better explained in the actual article itself, rather than a short blurb.
- Shawn Michaels was the first wrestler to be in a ladder match, Iron Man Match, Hell In A Cell, and the Elimination Chamber Match. -Mentioned, mentioned, mentioned, and false. (He was in the first one, but ot the first man to compete. RVD and Triple H were).
- While in the process of carrying World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) from 1995 through 1997, he became the first wrestler to win every major title in WWE history, also known as the Grand Slam Champion. Carrying? Little POV for my tastes, but he was one of the main draws, I can't argue. The point about the Grand Slam champion is mentioned in the Titles sectoin.
- Shawn Michaels was also one of the most controvertic(sic) wrestlers ever with things like D-Generation X, his in-ring gestures and speech, No mention of X-Pac? Seriously though, it's mentioned in this section.
- and with the Montreal Screwjob, which contained his most famous rival on and behind the scenes, with the legendary Bret Hart. -Mentioned here, there, and everywhere.
- Shawn Michaels is considered one of the greatest in-ring performers ever.-It's a good point, but POV. Not everyone likes Michaels.
In honesty, I do not agree with including it because the information is redundant, and the summary itself is very lacking, and seems more like the introduction to a high school essay, rather than an encyclopedia.--Toffile 04:11, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- "Legendary", "carrying WWE" and "greatest" are all pov junk. Moreover, Michaels was not the first wrestler to be in a ladder match; the match was used in Calgary before Bret Hart brought it to the WWE. PhaseDMA, you have already broken the 3 revert rule. If you don't like the removal of the paragraph then take it up at requests for comment. McPhail 17:56, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Wow. It sure takes some serious nerve to tell me about the 3 revert rule. But let me bring up another rule. Ignore the rules.. Another thing I would like to bring up is the "Don't be a dick" in the same article.
Also... Shawn Michaels is a icon. If nothing more in the storyline, and seeing as these articles for wrestling related wikipedia articles go between both there is nothing wrong with using this "POV". There is clearly a precedent has been set in this regard (never mind if they are even a POV or not in the first place).
Now... Lets make clear. You don't think that these words like "icon" and such are a POV - If you did you would attempt to remove them from the triva section too. However just like anyone else you realize attempting to remove them from that section wouldn't fly.
Now do us all a favor and quit it. Or at least quit it until you can come up with a legitimate reason to remove it.
Good riddance--Anthony 01:28, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- As a note, I see no mention of legendary, icon, etc. in the trivia section. In the nicknames section? Yes. They are nicknames he's uses or used. I don't agree with most of the introduction because it's mostly redundant repeating lines that are used in the article itself. If you want to expand it and actually give a basic overview of his career such as the one on Triple H, go ahead. I'm working on a couple of other things right now. The introduction in the version you prefer isn't a good summary, and it seems like it's more hype than actual facts. --Toffile 01:42, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
If you want to claim it's overdone that's one thing. Trying to claim it as a POV is quite another. I'm not so much (if at all) against it being removed. I'm against people attempting to remove it with bogus (or half thought out) reasons.--Anthony 03:22, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I think a little of it is POV (though I do like Micheals), but my main problem is with the way it's written and how most of the information seems to be copied line from line from other parts of the text. There were only really 2 lines that had a little POV problems, and it's a bit POV to say he was the only one carrying the company. The other one is an opinion, but it's somewhat widely held that he is one of the best wrestlers.--Toffile 13:11, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
Once again I do agree. It is quite repetitive.
Trying to stay unbiased (and I admit - This may be the single worst article when it comes to being unbiased)... I do think he did carry the company by himself between Wrestlemania 12, and Wrestlemania 14. It's no small feat when the WWE loves to say you were one best champions (in and out of the ring)... Of course I think this is a bit storyline, but for the most part the truth.
Before 1996? I would have to agree he wasn't the sole one carring the company - But he had his first (of what would become many more) top 10 matche (and we are talking in the history of the company... Not just Shawn's) at Wrestlemania 10.
Bottom line is I do think he did carry the company for the last 2 years before he retired.
However, I don't think it's importent enough to mention carrying the company in the intro. Or maybe it's only importent enough if it gets it's own section in the article. But either way it doesn't belong in the intro (What do you think of it getting a section based on what I said though?).--Anthony 14:51, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- That doesn't sound too bad. If I get a chance, I'd try getting a hand at rewriting it. Right now, I'm still in limbo waiting for some more feedback at the match types page. (Which is the PW page in most desparate need of reorganinizing) --Toffile 19:46, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
Pedro Morales(?) as first grand slam champion ?
Links
Does anyone else think all these fan sites are way over done? IMO in order to have a fan site on the wikipedia article it should actually have (unique) content AND be designed well.
Anyone and everyone shouldn't be allowed to have a link to their fan site.--Anthony 01:09, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
- m:External Links seems to suggest what you're saying. Looking at those 3 links...they probably shoould get removed. Let me go check to see how some of the other pages have it though.--Toffile 13:40, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Autobiography
- We seriously need a page on his superb book, Heartbreak and Triumph - Or should we incorporate it into this page? I would start one, but I'd muck it up in some way.
- Why not start something? Someone else can always clean it up.--Anthony 15:09, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed unless there's an Administrator Tyrant that frequents the page. OsFan 20:18, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- Why not start something? Someone else can always clean it up.--Anthony 15:09, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- About six hundred million books have been dedicated to Jesus or to the author's family. This information is not notable and doesn't belong in the article. Bcarlson33 03:16, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- My view is that because it's his book it's note worthy, because it's article. Of course this is just a point of view, and I'm not going to argue my point beyond this. I just thought I should be bold and point out my view on the subject :)--Anthony 02:58, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- I haven't read Shawn's book and I haven't heard anything about what is in it but could someone answer a question for me. Does it say in Shawn's book that he had a personal relationship with Sherri Martel or not? I haven't read anything about them having that kind of relationship so I was wondering where that came from. User:MgTurtle Mar.22,2006
- No, it doesn't say anything about Shawn and Sherri having any sort of personal relationship. He talks about his two marriages and thats pretty much it for his relationships Katiedid 00:30, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
If there is nothing in his book about it, then is there a source that says that they had that type of relationship or did somone say that they had that type of relationship? Just wondering. User:MgTurtle Mar. 23,2006
- One thing I want to add about his book, is that he says over and over again that his daughter's name is Cheyenne Michelle. I have changed it a number of times on the main page, but it always gets changed back to Madison. Before you edit the page try to know what you are talking about Katiedid 00:34, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
Why don't you try and learn how to properly punctuate and learn about how to properly start sentences? I just told you that I haven't read his book and that I don't plan on it. I was just wondering if the name was right. You don't have to be so witchy about stuff! It's not like I can't make mistakes. Gosh! User:MgTurtle Mar.23,2006
- I wasn't trying to be and I'm sorry that I came across like that. I was just saying. And you aren't the one it would be directed at if I was trying to be witchy because you weren't the one who was changing it (on the main page). Katiedid 22:20, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
That's okay. I know what it's like to try and tell people that their information is wrong and they don't even try to listen. Sorry for saying that you were witchy. You were just trying to show me the truth. Thanks for the understanding. User:MgTurtle Mar.24,2006
Play by Play
I've done some cleanup to end the "here's what HBK did this week" blather that comprised much too much of this page. Let's avoid play-by-play in the future. Just because something happens does not mean it belongs in Wikipedia. Bcarlson33 21:15, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Hall of Fame?
I heard a rumor that Shawn is not going to attend this years Hall of Fame ceremony because Bret Hart is going to be there. Is this true? Just wondering. User:MgTurtle
- I think Wade Keller answers questions like yours on pwtorch.com. Probably more likely to get answers there than from us Wikipedia goofs :) Bcarlson33 03:37, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
According to an article on www.lordsofpain.net, Shawn did go to the ceremony (as we saw), but left before Bret Hart was inducted. Katiedid 21:30, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
Third child?
Does anyone have a source that says Shawn and Rebecca are having a third child this year? I can't find anything. Thanks.
- I had read a few things about that and assumed that they were true, but when she was shown at Wrestlemania after Shawn's match and with him at the Hall of Fame ceremony, it became obvious to me that they were (most likely)false. If she is pregnant, she is very, very early! Katiedid 19:32, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
Return of DX?
Yes, there is "official" speculation that "old" Shawn is returning. But that one sentence tidbit does not merit an entirely new section in this article. Let this play out some more, it will soon become clear if this means anything. Shawn's heel turn against Hogan seemed significant, too, and it ended the second Summerslam was over. Bcarlson33 03:15, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
No mention is warrented at all, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a blog or message board - report only facts - no speculation, however likely something might seem. --Naha|(talk) 05:09, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
Birthplace
As much as we Chandler residents would like to claim Shawn Michaels as a native son, the article explicitly states that he was born on Williams Air Force Base (now Williams Gateway Airport), which is not now, nor has ever been within Chandler city limits. His birthplace should properly be listed as Mesa, or simply as Williams Air Force Base, but not Chandler which is over 10 miles away. -- Miwa 19:19, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
It says in his book that "...I ended up being born Michael Shawn Hickenbottom on July 22, 1965, at Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, Arizona." I didn't change it back on the main page because I don't know about city limits, but that is what it says in his book.Katiedid 20:44, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
- The book is then incorrect (this can be easily verified by all matter of other sources, not the least of which includes Google Maps and the historical museums of the cities involved) ... Granted, wrestling literature is far more important as a source of sport-related and biographical information than geographical information. Cheers! -- Miwa 03:02, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
- That's why I didn't change it!! I just wanted to put that it said Chandler in the book so that people like you wouldnt think that we were pulling that information from nowhere! you don't have to be an ass about it! Katiedid 14:50, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
- Um, I'm not trying to be an ass about it. I understand why you didn't change it, it's not your fault the documentation was wrong. I am simply stating things as they are. Please please please do not take this personally -- just because the book was wrong doesn't make you any less capable of a Wikipedian. I hope your day gets better from here. Honest!
- Also, your userinfo states that you're a stickler for correct information. I understand that, you did the best you could with the literature you were working with. Anyway, good luck, and take care. -- Miwa 22:19, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Shawn Michaels a notable Saskatonian?
If you go the the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan page, you will see that Shawn Michaels is listed as a notable Saskatonian under the heading "Notable Saskatonians." I have never read an article where it said that Michaels was raised or lived for a time in Saskatoon. I would like concerte evidence supporting for or against that he was raised or lived in Saskatoon. fishhead2100 April 30, 2006 11:49PM (UTC)
- Not to say he lived or didn't live in that city, but his father being in the military I for one wouldn't be suprised if he lived there for a certain amount of time.--Anthony 01:33, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
& people wonder how history got full of rumors thought true
HBK attacked
I heard a rumor that HBK got attacked recently can anyone confirm this or has more evidence on it> From what i know it sounds legit--army 06:14, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
He's been attacked before but I have heard of nothing recent.
article discussion
There is a guy who has completely taken over the article section of the Shawn Michaels (HBK) entry & it's really starting to get old. No matter what is written no matter how well, he writes something completely new. Another thing about this guy is he is always speculating about what will happen & it's not true fact. First he tried to claim Michaels was retiring now he's saying DX is coming back. Even if one or the other is true (& we can all hope for a new DX as that would be great) would this guy give speculation a break? His thoughts were that the McMahon feud was over Michaels' decision to retire. This is not true & is pure speculation as I have told him numerous times. Could he stop being such a hog of the article? I had an excellent play by play of the Saturday Night's Main Event that was expanded on from an article from wwe.com along with other great insider information straight from wwe.com & he deliberately removed it & continues to. What a crock. Another thing he does is completely ignore critical parts of the story. For example on May 22nd Michaels' sustained a severe attack to his knee & now needs surgery. He will miss action. I just added that information to the article. I removed his speculation that Michaels' will return by his 'supposed' DX reunion date. This guy didn't talk about the chair hit in the process of a kick, the tearing of his uniform, the removal of his knee brace, and the high flying that a Spirit Squad member did into his knee while it was stuck through a folded chair. I know this sounds like I'm whining but seriously I've been a Michaels' fan for nearly 17 years & know a couple things.

Now I don't know who is editing your submissions (it's not me), but I'm sure whomever he or she is means well. I'm sure he's just trying to consolodate the article and make it a good Wikipedia entry, not a full blow-by-blow recap as some of us do out of enthusiasm or for whatever reason (yeah, I'm guilty of it too sometimes). If you think this may be the result of a vandal, then you probably should take it up with either an administrator or on the contributor's talk page. Just keep up the good work - and hey, keep a level head out there, whydoncha? [[Briguy52748 14:13, 24 May 2006 (UTC)]].
