Douburji Virkan Village in Gujranwala is

Douburji Virkan lies Nowshera virkan Tehsil under Gujranwala District; as constituency of NA-100. Douburji Virkan is adjacent to an other village called Kaolowala, which is located on the north side at the bank of a canal. Douburji Virkan is one of the villages in punjab that is rich in rural culture and symbol of love peace and unity. The total population is about 1000. Inhabitants of this village are residing here for centuries. Most of the ancestors converted from Sikhism to Islam. This village is comprised of Jatt (clain) cast mainly Virk. This village by some historians said was called called Mustafa dee Ghurree and name got changed to douburji when many travelers back in days were used to stop here at the Bourj for rest and water. This village was a passage to other places when people traveled from various other main cities and they would mostly pass this place. Bourj (well) at then was a known stop and people started calling it Bourj at Virkan. There were two Bourjs and therefore, people started calling it (2)Do-Bourj Virkan. Later this name commonly changed to Douburji Virkan. The village is unique in way that it is mostly based on one or two tribes of Virk. There are still two families basically making up the most population. Both families are Virk and at a time were traditional rivals and enemies. 1) one Tribe is children of Baba Kanda and Baba Chandha. Known son of Baba Kanda was Choudhry Hayat Muhammad. Ch Hayat had many children and among those Chaudhry Shah Muahmmad and Chaudhry Sakhi Muhammad- later known Master Shakhi were well known and respected heads of the family. Ch Sakhi Muhammad was one of the pioneer in the village who was educated and employed by Govt as a teacher. Being from such a remote village of Punjab, having few resources he was managed to study and graduated in 1950s. He had lot of respect in family and even enemies of him at times praised him as a wise person. 2) The other tribe is from Baba Bakhsha and from his tribe most known person was Baba Murad. Baba Murad was very shrewd and and wise man. He held his family together and established good bradri(clain) influence over village Politics. A well known fight that went over decades between both tribes were basically fought between Ch Shah Muhamamd and Baba Murad (of Course both Tribes). Along with these two main Bradries there are several other small bradiries as well, like Gorayaa, Beryar etc. The village is very dynamic in a way... Sunni and Shia are 50/50 and have both separate mosques. Its very interesting to see the peace, unity and brotherliness among people from both sects. They are symbol of peace and love, even after sect war and religious riots in the country this village is predominantly peaceful except few minor incidents. People of Douburji Virkan are very hard working, hospitable and mainly relying on agriculture. Education and health issues are chronic in the village but there has been lot of improvement and modernization in the village in recent years. Few people are supporting their families by working in the cities and some as Govt employees. Very few people from Douburji Virkan are also living/working in Canada, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Middle East and Europe.
