Donald insall
Sir Donald William Insall is a British architect, conservationist, author, and founder of the architectural conservation practice Donald Insall Associates [1].
Career
During 1957 Donald published his report 'The Care of Old Buildings', marking the 80th anniversary of the founding by William Morris of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. During 1958 he founded architectural conservation practice Donald Insall Associates, and was joined shortly after by Peter Locke, both men having been Lethaby Scholars of the SPAB in 1950. The practice continues its specialist work in conservation, historic consultancy, adaptive re-use and new buildings in sensitive sites.
In the 1995 New Year Honours Donald Insall was awarded an OBE for services to conservation. Subsequently, Donald Insall was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s 2010 Birthday Honours on Saturday, 12 June. [2]
