This article is an alphabetical list of minor characters in the fictional StarCraft universe, a fictional universe in which a a games and several books are set, who do not fit into any other category.

The characters featured here have been featured prominently at one time or another in the StarCraft universe, and commonly depicted as heroes or villains that contributed to the changes in the StarCraft universe and timeline.

Adun

Template:StarCraft character Adun was a Protoss character in the fictional StarCraft universe.

Very little is known about Adun, but the Protoss, especially the Templar Caste, revere him as a hero and even a demigod.

Adun and the Rogue Tribes

As the Aeon of Strife ended among the Protoss, the Khala was imposed on the entire race in an effort to prevent a return to the strife. However, a number of Protoss, fearful of the effects of the Khala, lived in secret on Aiur as Rogue Tribes, unknown to the majority of the Protoss. Only the Conclave knew of their existence.

Adun, an idealistic young warrior, was ordered by the Conclave to eradicate this threat, for reasons unknown. When Adun discovered these Rogue Tribes, however, he did not execute his orders. Instead, he tried to teach them how to use psionics without using the Khala. While he did successfully teach them how to hide themselves from the Conclave, his efforts to teach them the secrets of the psionic storm failed. Without the discipline of the Khala, their storms raged all over Aiur, alerting other Protoss of their existence.

The barely reunited tribes began to fight once more. Old vendettas and ancient prejudices were reborn as the Protoss who refused the way of Khala were branded as traitors and hunted down.

Eventually the Conclave devised a way to impose order on the Protoss once more. The Rogue Tribes were secretly placed on board a Xel'Naga freighter and exiled from Aiur. Their fate was kept a secret from the other Protoss. Eventually they became known, in legend, as the Dark Templar.

Matriarch Raszagal, an old Protoss, is old enough to remember the exile, which caused much bitterness among her people.

Adun's actions afterwards are unknown.

Historical Accuracy

Raszagal, Matriarch of the Dark Templar, was 1,046 years old at the beginning of Brood War[1], and she was the only Dark Templar old enough to remember the exile from Aiur, an event which occurred in partly due to the actions of Adun. This places the time of exile at about one thousand years before the beginning of StarCraft. As the oldest Protoss we are introduced to, it seems unlikely that any other Protoss could live three times as long as she has.

However, Taldarin, an old Protoss Dragoon, claims he and Adun fought side by side three thousand years ago, before Taldarin was crippled and placed into a Stasis Cell for "several millennia". He emerged in a life-preserving Dragoon.

Taldarin didn't claim to have accompanied Adun on the mission to pacify the Rogue Tribes. It is possible Adun himself spent time in stasis, for reasons unknown.

It is interesting to note that although most templar greet and dismiss each other with "En Taro Adun," the Praetor Artanis frequently substitutes with "En Taro Tassadar." Taking into consideration that Artanis is a comparatively young templar and that other Protoss continue to use Adun's name in their greetings, "En Taro" may be a phrase suggesting reverence to heroes and idols from a particular Protoss's life. Also Dark Templars use the phrase "Adun Toridas".

Daggoth

Template:StarCraft character Template:Spoiler Daggoth is a Zerg Cerebrate and the leader of the Zerg Tiamat Brood in the StarCraft universe. Tiamat is the largest and most powerful Brood within the Zerg Swarm[2].

Daggoth is one of the strongest willed Cerebrates, often advising or even issuing orders to other Cerebrates[3]. During the Overmind's temporary "illness" after the death of Zasz, Daggoth effectively replaced it until the Overmind revived.

Daggoth advised the Zerg Overmind's newest Cerebrate (the player), in charge of Infested Kerrigan's chrysalis, and his aid extended to "donating" Hunter Killers to the new Brood.

Upon the arrival of the chrysalis at the planet Char, its psionic emanations drew the attention of Terrans, such as Arcturus Mengsk, who dispatched General Edmund Duke to recover it. The new Cerebrate's forces defeated Duke, but Daggoth ordered the Cerebrate to hold its forces while Daggoth's Tiamat Swarm pursued them.

The product of the chrysalis, Infested Kerrigan, immediately began a quest to empower her psionic abilities. Doing so required her to infiltrate a Terran science vessel, the Amerigo, and collect information on the Terran Ghost program. While Zasz accused Kerrigan of putting her own whims ahead of those of the Overmind, Daggoth supported her mission by once again donating Hunter Killers. These Hunter Killers fought alongside her and remained behind to deal with any Terrans investigating the incident.

Infested Kerrigan's new psionic powers enabled her to detect the presence of Protoss on Char, which even Zasz had not been able to do. Discovered, Tassadar contacted her and challenged her to single combat. Kerrigan accepted.

The duel turned out to be a distraction. While she sought Tassadar, Zeratul, the Dark Templar Prelate, slew Zasz. When Kerrigan heard about this, she gloated, until she realized that Zeratul's attack had permanently slain the Cerebrate, somehow silencing the Overmind and driving the Garm Brood insane. Now the primary Hive Clusters were being threatened. Daggoth ordered the destruction of the Garm Brood.

The Zerg Overmind travelled to Aiur in order to defeat and possibly assimilate the Protoss, leaving Infested Kerrigan behind to hunt down any remaining Dark Templar on Char.

The Overmind did not survive its mission on Aiur, however. For a brief time, the Zerg ran out of control over Aiur, slaying many Protoss. Daggoth and Infested Kerrigan jockeyed for power over the weakened Zerg Swarm. Daggoth ordered the formation of a new Overmind from the union of many Cerebrates. The new Overmind was weak, but if it came to maturity, it would gain control over all the Zerg in the Koprulu Sector, including Kerrigan. As it was, Daggoth and Kerrigan each controlled roughly half the Zerg Swarm each.

The Fate of Daggoth

Daggoth's fate after the events in Brood War is unknown, but it is believed to be alive. Some have theorized that he evolved into the new Overmind that was killed by the Protoss/Zerg union in Chapter VI of Brood War.

Hauler, Colonel Jackson

Template:StarCraft character Colonel Jackson Hauler is the commander of the Nova Squadron, the former Confederacy's clandestine secret police.

One of his most talented agents is a Ghost also named Nova. In Starcraft: Ghost, Nova gets played like a chess piece in a critical intergalactic game by Colonel Hauler, her commander and mentor, who promises to help her continue to develop psionic abilities if she obeys his orders.

Note: Even though Hauler is listed as the commander of the Nova Squadron in the original Starcraft manual, he is seen in this screenshot with the markings of the Omega Squadron and is wearing the colors of the Nova Squadron (purple). The reason for this is unknown.

Hung, Somo

Template:StarCraft character Somo Hung is a main character in the StarCraft e-book, StarCraft: Uprising.

Hung, a Terran, was a "fringe-squib", a person born and raised on a fringe world in the Koprulu Sector. His parents wanted a better life for him, so they spent all their credits sending him to Umoja, a planet where many opportunities awaited. Unlike most fringe-squib, Somo Hung was well-educated.

Hung became a low-level prospector for the Umojans when he received news that his parents, and indeed the entire population of his home world, were killed by cholera. Template:Spoiler Hung, an idealistic young man, considered joining the Korhal rebel faction, which had stationed some members on Umoja. He and the rebel leader Arcturus Mengsk saw each other there, but he couldn't decide on whether he should join or not.

He quickly made up his mind, however, joining the Sons of Korhal upon its formation when the planet Korhal was scoured of life by the Terran Confederacy nuclear attack. Mengsk scorned him for his seeming lack of willpower, but noted that his rebel force was now too small to keep out recruits.

Mengsk wasn't the only person who scorned Hung - most of the rebels, including Lieutenant Pollock Rimes, despised him for being a "fringe-squib". He clashed with Rimes while aboard the Sons of Korhal battlecruiser, the Hyperion. The Hyperion used to be a Terran Confederacy battlecruiser, and Rimes used to be its captain. However he joined Mengsk's rebels after his vessel crashed in Umojan territory.

His first taste of action was in a Sons of Korhal raid on Vyctor 5, a Terran Confederacy world, which housed a secret installation, the Fujita Facility. His group, small enough to fit into a modified Siege Tank, passed through the stable weather formation, the Fujita Pinnacle, in order to approach the facility. Their job was to destroy the four Missile Turrets surrounding the facility, which would enable the a Dropship filled with troops to approach. However, the Siege Tank's engine broke down, and it could not destroy all of the Missile Turrets. Rimes, Hung and the others had to emerge from the Siege Tank and fight. They were heavily outnumbered by the Terran Confederacy security detail.

During battle, his indecisive actions earned even more scorn from Pollock Rimes. However, Rimes was a very good commander, leading his men to slay the Confederates despite his numerical disadvantage. Entering the facility, his troops discovered a young telepath named Sarah Kerrigan, along with some xenomorphs, which Rimes ordered destroyed. Both Mengsk and Hung took great interest in Kerrigan. While Mengsk kept his motives secret, Hung couldn't keep his romantic feelings hidden from the telepathic Kerrigan. Rimes, on the other hand, didn't like her.

Pollock Rimes made his displeasure about Hung known shortly after Hung received some disturbing news. In an effort to hide the existence of these xenomorphs, which were first seen on Fringe Worlds, the Confederates had slain the entire populations of these worlds with plagues. Hung's world was one of them. Hung was sitting in the mess hall with his only friends in the rebel organization, Sarah Kerrigan and Sergeant Forest Keel, when Rimes approached. He wanted Hung to do some training, but Hung was suffering emotional distress. Kerrigan told Rimes to back off, but he refused, so she beat him up. Rimes had never experienced something like that before. He gave Hung five "ticks" (minutes) to report to training.

Arcturus Mengsk wanted to launch a bold attack on the Terran Confederacy, whose media services ignored the actions of the Sons of Korhal. His strike would be directed against the Ghost Academy on the Confederate homeworld of Tarsonis. The mission was virtually suicidal in nature. Shortly before the mission, Hung and Kerrigan admitted their love for each other.

During the mission, Pollock Rimes was in charge. Sarah Kerrigan was also present, but Arcturus Mengsk had sent her on a secret mission. Rimes abandoned the team, however, saying they could handle it without him. Hung grew suspicious and followed him. He discovered that Rimes was still loyal to the Terran Confederacy, and had warned the Academy of the Sons of Korhal attack. Hung and Rimes fought (mostly) hand-to-hand. Hung blinded Rimes and killed him, but was badly injured.

Meanwhile, Sarah Kerrigan's mission was failing. She had been sent after Major Rumm, an old adversary of hers, but he had been warned, and caught her in a high gravity trap. The rest of the rebels were trapped by Ghosts near the Academy's power plant. Hung was able to open the doors in the recreation area where the rebels were trapped, letting them enter the power plant. The Ghosts didn't want to fight them there, giving the rebels time to destroy the power plant. The rebels were all killed, but the power went out... rescuing Kerrigan!

While she could move, Sarah Kerrigan was still trapped. Somo Hung went to rescue her, but Major Rumm spotted him and quickly killed him.

Hung is probably named after Hong Kong actor, Sammo Hung, although when said "Hung Somo", it also sounds like a warped Han Solo.

Kaloth

Template:StarCraft character Kaloth is a fictional character in the StarCraft universe. He is a Zerg Cerebrate of unknown affiliation. Like most Zerg Cerebrates, Kaloth's age is unknown.

Template:Spoiler

In Deceptions, former United Earth Directorate Vice Admiral Stukov was observed by the Kimeran Pirates in a Terran Confederacy science facility, at least a year after the fall of the Terran Confederacy and after the defeat of the United Earth Directorate Expeditionary Force by Infested Kerrigan's Zerg. He was obviously infested. The Terrans there were studying Zerg reanimation through infestation, and appeared to be working for Stukov.

Kaloth is introduced in Resurrection IV by Artanis. Kaloth's cells regenerated those of the slain Vice Admiral Alexi Stukov, infesting him in the process. Artanis said that Stukov now lorded over his own secret Zerg Brood on Braxis. Artanis's scientists had developed a nanotech serum which could reverse the process, and he employed Jim Raynor, Praetor Taldarin and a small escort of Protoss and Terrans to travel to Braxis to free Stukov from the Zerg.

The Zerg on Braxis were weak, as Stukov had only recently come into power over them. They infested a large part of Braxis despite this weakness. Furthermore, Stukov had gathered a large number of mercenaries to work for him, although they were not completely reliable. Many believed Stukov was insane.

Raynor and Taldarin fought their way to Stukov's hideout. While there, Stukov screamed out: "Now you will taste the vengeance of the New Swarm. Destroy them!"

Stukov had access to Torrasques, which attacked Raynor and Taldarin. However, the two were able to free Stukov from the Zerg with the nanotech serum and fled Braxis with him. The Protoss then sterilized the world.

Kaloth was not observed during the mission, and may not have been on Braxis at the time. If Kaloth survived, its current location is unknown. However, if Stukov retained his memories from the time he was infested, he may have some idea of Kaloth's current hideout.

Khas

Khas was a Protoss character in the fictional StarCraft universe. Khas is a Protoss word meaning "He Who Brings Order" - the Protoss do not know his real name.

Near the end of the Aeon of Strife, Khas made a remarkable discovery - the Protoss psionic link had not been destroyed, simply rendered inaccessible by the disparate Protoss egos. It could be accessed again through the use of powerful Xel'Naga artifacts - the Khaydarin Crystals, which he rediscovered[4]. It is rumored that his success was due to assistance from the Xel'Naga.

Through the power and connection of his newly-discovered psionic powers, Khas travelled throughout Aiur and other Protoss planets, gradually subsuming Protoss society into an ordered philosophy called the Khala.

Sometimes his opponents refused to respond to diplomacy, so Khas would resort to other measures. For instance, the planet of Gyras was occupied by Protoss who indulged in vicious blood feuds in an arena. When Khas travelled there, he called upon the forces of the Khaydarin Crystals and destroyed the arena. The bloodshed quickly ended.

Eventually, Khas' actions brought about the end of the Aeon of Strife.

In addition, he is responsible for ordering the tribes into the Judicator Caste, Templar Caste and Khalai Caste. His first group of students formed a new tribe, the Ara Tribe, but membership in the other tribes remained hereditary.

The final fate of Khas is unknown.

Mengsk, Angus

Template:StarCraft character Angus Mengsk was a famous political figure in the Koprulu Sector and father of Arcturus Mengsk. He was originally from Korhal IV.

Korhal was one of the oldest Terran Confederacy colonies and a world of affluence. Its people, however, resented their affiliation with the corrupt Confederate senators.

Tensions arose between the colonists and the Confederates as the citizens began to revolt against the local Confederate militia. The Confederates imposed martial law, but the revolt refused to die out.

Korhalian Senator Angus Mengsk became a leader of the Korhalian revolt, issuing fiery statements declaring that the Confederacy no longer held any claim over the world of Korhal.

The revolt was successful enough to drive the Confederates from the planet, as the Confederacy decided on a new tactic. Three Ghosts assassins, including a female operative[5] killed him and most of his family in the capital city, Styrling. His head was never found. This did much to weaken the revolt. Finally the Confederacy launched a salvo of a thousand Apocalypse-class nuclear missiles, which laid waste to Korhal.

His murder prompted his son, Arcturus, to follow a path of vengeance against the Terran Confederacy.

In his younger days, Angus Mengsk saved the life of Ailin Pasteur, who would later become an ambassador from Umoja. Pasteur became a member of the Ruling Council of the Korhalian Rebellion, and to repay the favor, he voted in favor of making Arcturus Mengsk leader and general of the Korhalian rebellion.

Mojo

Template:StarCraft character Mojo is a Protoss Praetor and Scout pilot in the fictional StarCraft universe.

He was first seen captured by the Terran, Alan Schezar on Aiur. Imprisoned within a Stasis Cell, he was still able to contact an Alpha Squadron commander, embroiled in battle against Schezar's Scavengers, and request a rescue. Template:Spoiler The Scavengers had captured a Zerg Cerebrate and using it to support their smuggling operations. Arcturus Mengsk, Emperor of the Terran Dominion, ordered his officer to destroy this Cerebrate. However, Mojo knew that the Scavengers were using Khaydarin Crystal-based technology they found on Aiur and could use it to capture a new Cerebrate. Instead, he wanted this Alpha Squadron commander to recover the technology instead, starting with the rescue of a number of High Templar held prisoner by Schezar's Scavengers.

This story is covered in StarCraft: Enslavers and has two possible endings. In the "canonical" ending involves a rescue by the Alpha Squadron commander.

Together, Mojo and these renegade Terrans attacked the Schezar's Scavengers on Aiur. Alan Schezar's Cerebrate controlled a Torrasque, a powerful Ultralisk which led the Zerg attacks. The Cerebrate was capable of reincarnating the Torrasque upon its death, throwing it again and again against the Protoss and renegade Terrans.

Mojo led the forces into the Zerg Hive Cluster, slaying the Cerebrate. As it had no connection to the Zerg Overmind, it could not be reincarnated. With its death, that Torrasque would not rise again, and that Zerg Brood fell into disarray. The coalition then moved against the Scavengers, defeating them. However, Alan Schezar survived.

In the final battle, the player has the option of letting his heroes die (they are expendable), but Mojo appears again in Enslavers: Dark Vengeance.

Dark Vengeance

Mojo made a brief appearance, tracking the emissions of Khaydarin Crystals stolen by Ulrejaz to Korhal. Though it was stolen by Protoss, it was protected by a Zerg Brood, which caused Mojo to wonder if they were dealing with Alan Schezar again. He believed Schezar was working with Ulrejaz, for unknown reasons. Mojo led the Protoss forces against Schezar's Scavengers on Korhal.

Morik

Template:StarCraft character Morik is an Infested Terran character in the fictional StarCraft universe. Template:Spoiler Originally a regular Terran, he was infested in an experiment conducted by Terran Confederacy scientists after the fall of the Confederacy, in a secret military installation. Nanites run through his bloodstream, preventing his most awful Zerg instincts from manifesting themselves. However, he has been described as "a little batty" for his desire to "KILL! KILL! KILL!"

He is skilled in the use of explosives.

Morik is introduced in the StarCraft map, Deceptions.

He was rescued by the Kimeran Pirates. His current fate is unknown, as the Kimeran Pirates were attacked in the StarCraft map, Mercenaries II.

Rimes, Pollock

Template:StarCraft character Pollock Rimes is a major character in StarCraft: Uprising, an e-book set in the fictional StarCraft universe.

Rimes was originally a Terran Confederacy battlecruiser captain. When his battlecruiser crashed in Umojan territory, well out of range of Confederate hailing frequencies, his ship and crew became affilitated with Arcturus Mengsk and his rebel group. (The battlecruiser was later renamed the Hyperion).

He's known as not being scared of anything; he's also very competent and a fierce warrior. Rimes was bald and scarred, with a mostly missing left ear, a previous-broken nose, and an indentation on the left side of his skull. Template:Spoiler Rimes takes part of the StarCraft: Uprising mission to Vyctor 5, early in the history of the Sons of Korhal. Arcturus Mengsk wanted him to retrieve one of three "objects" from a hidden Confederate installation called the Fujita Facility. He found one such object ... a young telepath named Sarah Kerrigan. He also found some xenomorphs, which he ordered destroyed. He said it would be easier to transport them that way. Finally, he took Dr. Flanx, a Confederate scientist prisoner.

Rimes took a dislike to Sarah Kerrigan, who managed to actually scare him. Arcturus Mengsk took Kerrigan under his wing, however, preventing Rimes from doing anything serious to her.

The Hyperion is confronted by another battlecruiser, commanded by Colonel Edmund Duke, when Mengsk ordered the Hyperion to boldly enter Confederate space. Someone had covertly contacted Duke, letting him know of the Hyperion's presence, after attacking the Sons of Korhal officer Sela Brock.

The Hyperion was boarded by Terran Confederacy troops, and when they found Dr. Flanx, he revealed that he was still loyal to the Confederacy. He led them through the battlecruiser. Upon encountering an unarmored Pollock Rimes, Flanx told the Confederate troops that he was a rebel, and not to believe anything he said. Arcturus Mengsk laid an ambush for the Confederates, and Rimes, despite being taken prisoner by the Confederates, was able to arm himself and slay several of them. In the end, Flanx and the Confederate soldiers were dead.

After this incident, Arcturus Mengsk decided to raid the Ghost Academy on the Confederate capital world of Tarsonis, in order to retrieve yet another "object" and to force the Confederate-controlled media to acknowledge the existence of the Sons of Korhal.

Rimes and Kerrigan were both supposed to lead the invasion force, but Kerrigan was sent on her secret errand to retrieve the "object", leaving Rimes in charge. Rimes, however, abandoned his force and vanished into the building. Thinking he was acting suspiciously, Somo Hung decided to follow him.

He discovered that Rimes was still loyal to the Terran Confederacy. It was Rimes who most likely contacted Colonel Duke, and he had other reasons for killing the xenomorphs. Furthermore, he had warned Major Rumm, commanding officer of the Academy, of the Sons of Korhal attack and the infiltration by Sarah Kerrigan. In a nasty fight, Hung overcame Rimes, killing him. However, Hung was seriously injured during the battle.

Rimes never makes an appearance in the StarCraft game.

Routhe, Doran

Doran Routhe is an important character in the history of the fictional StarCraft universe. Routhe was a scientist on Earth during the rule of the United Powers League. As Project Purification, the UPL's plan to purify the human race by imprisoning and killing vast numbers of mutants, cyborgs, synthetics, political opponents, and so forth, operated, largely hidden from the media, Routhe made plans on increasing his own power within the UPL.

Routhe was obssessed with creating colonies on other planets outside of the solar system, hoping to find new mineral and other kinds of resources on such planets.

He had no part in Project Purification, but found it convenient for procuring 56,000 prisoners through his political connections to create a colonizing force. The prisoners were put into cold sleep. The new artificial intelligence, ATLAS, for Artificial Tele-empathic Logistics Analysis System, studied the prisoners and selected 40,000 as capable of surviving the journey and planetary colonization. The fate of the other 16,000 prisoners is unknown, but they had been slated for execution before being acquired by Routhe.

Routhe secretly built four huge carriers, the Nagglfar, Sarengo, Reagan and Argo, with experimental warp engines, and loaded the prisoners aboard. The ATLAS was installed on Nagglfar and the navigational computer was programmed to travel one year through warp space to the star system Gantris VI. The ships were also loaded with various supplies and hardware to help the colonists once they awoke.

During the journey, ATLAS catalogued the various mutations in the gene pool, and discovered that some of the genes the prisoners carried would augment the latent psionic potential of the human brain. ATLAS sent this information back to Doran Routhe's databanks on Earth.

Unfortunately for Routhe, the navigational computer somehow became disconnected from ATLAS. The ships barreled blindly through warp space for 30 years, ending up very far away from their destination.

Doran's fate is unknown, but some suggest he somehow became Samir Duran since anyone who had started such an experiment would want to keep track of it and continue to work with it.

Rumm, Major

Template:StarCraft character Mr. Rumm is a fictional character in the StarCraft universe. His first name is unknown.

Lt. Rumm was a Terran Confederacy military officer charged with the task of training Terran Ghosts. His methods involved using cybertechnology (contained in a neuro-adjuster) to alter the memories and weaken the psionic abilities of uncooperative Ghosts. The Ghost would then become loyal to the Terran Confederacy. Template:Spoiler

Training Kerrigan

Rumm implanted the cybertechnology into Sarah Kerrigan. He also used Ghost conditioning on her, permanently weakening her psionic abilities unless she discovered the secrets behind the conditioning. Even removing the implants would not completely restore her abilities. With the implants in place, Kerrigan became a loyal Confederate soldier.

Showdown with the Sons of Korhal

Kerrigan was released from her training and eventually was freed by the leader of the Sons of Korhal, Arcturus Mengsk.

Mengsk freed her from the cybertechnology, restoring her memories and psychic abilities.

Mengsk wanted her to attack the Terran Ghost Academy on the Terran Confederacy homeworld, Tarsonis, a difficult task for such a small terrorist organization as the Sons of Korhal. In addition to the psychological victory this would inflict on the Confederacy, he also wanted her to retrieve a Ghost for reasons he kept to himself (even though she could read his mind).

In order to locate this Ghost, she needed to get a locator from the Academy's commanding officer ... Major Rumm himself. Kerrigan had been in the academy before.

As she infiltrated the structure, she overhead a conversation with some soldiers indicating that xenomorphs were in the facility, being kept secret from most of the people there.

She made it to Rumm's quarters, only to find a note saying he was in the training area.

Rumm had received a warning from a traitor warning him of an attack by a renegade Ghost, so he left the note there to lure Kerrigan into an ambush. It worked. Kerrigan detected his thoughts too late and fell into a high-gravity chamber. Her cloaking device exhausted itself, revealing who she was to Major Rumm.

However, she did not remain trapped for long. The attack destroyed the installation's power core, deactiving the high gravity chamber. Rumm fled to a lift. Kerrigan escaped, only to run into a Ghost loyal to Rumm. Defeating him in hand-to-hand combat, she used his weapon to lock down the lift.

Then she approached close enough to use her psionic power on him. While it had been weakened, it was still effective. Rumm was killed by the very ability he had tried to control and suppress.

Appearances

Rumm does not appear in the game, and is only seen in fiction published by Blizzard Entertainment, namely StarCraft: Uprising and StarCraft: Hybrid.

Schezar, Alan

Template:StarCraft character Alan Schezar, also known as Allen Schezar, is a smuggler, crime lord and Goliath pilot in the fictional StarCraft universe. The name is taken from the anime Escaflowne, where Allen Schezar is a dashing young swordsman.

Alan Schezar and his Schezar's Scavengers raided Aiur after the Zerg invasion in StarCraft Episode II. They obtained special Protoss technology from a temple. It could be used along with Khaydarin Crystals to control a Zerg Cerebrate.

He also captured Mojo, a Protoss commander, along with the Warbringer (a Reaver) and Danimoth (an Arbiter) in Protoss Stasis Cells. This was a great blow to the Protoss, who could no longer control the presence of the Schezar's Scavengers on Aiur.

Alan Schezar first caused trouble for the Terran Dominion in the StarCraft: Enslavers series, where he managed to control a Zerg Cerebrate on an unnamed Terran world. The Dominion emperor, Arcturus Mengsk, knew that Schezar's Scavengers were prowling around in a Zerg-infested city, but he did not immediately conclude that Schezar was controlling the Zerg.

Schezar's Scavengers maintained a larger military base elsewhere on the planet. There they kept a Zerg Cerebrate under their control, along with a number of Protoss High Templar in captivity. The High Templar used to possess Khaydarin Crystal amulets, which Schezar wanted to use for his projects.

Instead of destroying the Cerebrate, the Alpha Squadron forces Mengsk sent after Schezar rescued the Protoss, due to communications with the imprisoned Mojo. Together the Protoss and renegade Alpha Squadron forces were able to attack Schezar's primary base on Aiur. Though defended by a Zerg Cerebrate and even the Torrasque, Schezar's forces were defeated.

Dark Vengeance

Schezar made a comeback in Enslavers: Dark Vengeance, having struck an alliance with renegade Dark Templar led by Ulrejaz after the Protoss of Aiur settled the Dark Templar homeworld, Shakuras.

Schezar's primary base was located on Braxis. There he worked with Ulrejaz, a Dark Templar who hated the high-born Templar from Aiur. Schezar's Scavengers built a giant EMP generator, which could be used to drain shields and energy sources from Protoss technology. It had no effect on Ulrejaz's forces, the Fist of Ulrejaz, however.

Ulrejaz travelled to Aiur on a mission of personal vengeance with three compatriots. They were captured there and transported to Shakuras. However, Ulrejaz had paid Schezar well to rescue him, so a large Schezar's Scavengers force travelled to Shakuras, rescuing Ulrejaz at great loss. Ulrejaz stole a Khaydarin Crystal from Shakuras during his escape.

Zeratul and Mojo led a revenge force after Ulrejaz, following evidence that he had fled to Korhal IV. The planet, throne world of the Terran Dominion, was in chaos. The Protoss were not sure if Mengsk himself was in command there. Schezar's Scavengers worked side by side with Zerg, leading Mojo to believe the Terrans who attacked Shakuras and who were stationed here worked for Alan Schezar. He was correct, but for the wrong reasons. The Zerg were actually under the control of Ulrejaz.

The Schezar's Scavengers were a mercenary force, whose loyalty was to themselves and money first. They surrendered to the Protoss, who let them leave the planet. Their commanding officer told Zeratul and Mojo that Schezar's primary base was on Braxis.

Zeratul sent a small squad of Protoss to assassinate Schezar, whom they located in his fortress. They had to fight past Zerg as well as Schezar's Scavengers to get to him. Once there, his forces disabled Schezar's Goliath. Schezar quickly surrendered, and even turned over control of his forces to the Protoss. The Zerg surrounding his base were not under his control, he pointed out. They would try to slay him because he was now telling secrets about Ulrejaz. After a desperate battle, the Terrans and Protoss defeated the Zerg.

Schezar had some explaining to do. He told the Protoss about the purpose of the EMP generator. Ulrejaz had rigged Schezar's Goliath to explode, and it was lucky for him the Protoss accidentally shut it down while destroying his Goliath. Schezar's new Goliath was similar to the old one.

He also revealed the Ulrejaz had combined with three Dark Templar to become a very powerful, if insane, Dark Archon. Finally, Ulrejaz was using a Warp Gate to bring his Zerg, which he controlled on Char, to his space platform over Shakuras. From there, he would use warped Khaydarin Crystals to modify the Zerg, making them more powerful and immune to the effects of the Xel'Naga Temple, which could reach the platform. These enhanced Zerg would eventually descend to the surface of Shakuras, killing the Protoss there. The Dark Templar would retreat to their hidden places, while the Protoss of Aiur would be caught in the open and destroyed. Thus, Ulrejaz would get his revenge on these Protoss.

In return for not being judged, Schezar would assist the depleted Protoss forces against the Fist of Ulrejaz. However, Ulrejaz wanted none of that. He sent assassins into Schezar's base to kill him. They succeeded.

Trivia: Escaflowne

It should also be noted that "Alan Schezar" is the blonde haired expert swordsman from the Vision of Escaflowne anime series, and that apparently Blizzard Entertainment designers are fans of the show to name one of their characters from it.

Both Schezars pilot mecha and command an army of soldiers, though the one in the anime is a knight fighting for chivalry and loyalty, not a pirate.

Taldarin

Template:StarCraft character Taldarin is a Protoss fictional character from the StarCraft video game.

In StarCraft: Resurrection IV Taldarin reveals his history to his ally, the Terran Jim Raynor.

He claims he is over 3,000 years old and a personal friend of the Protoss hero, Adun. He was injured in action three thousand years ago, and spent a very long time in a Stasis Cell. He only emerged when Protoss Dragoon technology was invented, which could keep him alive.

Recent Actions

Although Taldarin has known Raynor for some time and fought beside him, we are only introduced to him in Resurrection IV.

Together, the two confront Infested Stukov's forces on Braxis, fighting their way through and successfully freeing him from the Zerg. Taldarin escaped from Braxis, which was then "purified" by the Protoss, wiping out all life there.

Historical Accuracy

Protoss are a long-lived species, and have been known to exceed an age of 1,000 years. Matriarch Raszagal is one such old Protoss. She was old enough to remember the exile of the Dark Templar from Aiur, who were rescued by the "young warrior", Adun.

However, Taldarin claimed he and Adun fought side-by-side three millennia ago, before he was placed into stasis. This means Taldarin and Adun would have been alive 2,000 years before Adun's rescue of the Rogue Tribes. This implies that he led a life into adulthood, was then heavily injured in combat, put into a state of suspended animation, and was awakend 1,000 years prior to StarCraft to become the first Protoss Dragoon, but doesn't explain how Adun could have survived for so long. Dragoons may live for a much longer period than the normal life span of a Protoss, or perhaps Taldarin had spent more time in a Stasis Cell.

Ulrejaz

Template:StarCraft character Ulrejaz is a Protoss Dark Templar in the StarCraft universe.

He is introduced in Enslavers: Dark Vengeance. Like many Dark Templar, especially those in his army, the Fist of Ulrejaz, he hates the Protoss of Aiur.

Along with a trio of Dark Templar, he attacked three high-born Templar on Aiur, interrupting a mission launched to rescue them. Only one of the Templar survived. Ulrejaz was then arrested and taken to Shakuras for trial.

Using connections he had made with Schezar's Scavengers, he and his minions escaped. They stole a sacred Khaydarin Crystal and fled the planet.

Through an unknown process, he fused with three Dark Templar to create a very powerful, but insane, Dark Archon, with Ulrejaz as the dominant personality. Alan Schezar claimed Ulrejaz was insane even before this event.

Ulrejaz's plan of revenge against the Protoss of Aiur was two-fold. He constructed a space platform over Shakuras to launch his assault. One half involved activating Schezar's powerful EMP generator over the planet, draining the psionic energies of the Protoss. He also hoped to use warped Khaydarin Crystals to mutate Zerg he had captured, rendering them more powerful and immune to the effects of the Xel'Naga Temple. He hoped the Dark Templar would hide in their secret places on Shakuras, while the Protoss from Aiur would be caught in the open and destroyed by the Fist of Ulrejaz and his Zerg.

However, Zeratul interfered with at least one of the plans and defeated the other one. Ulrejaz survived, and it is said his hatred still burns hotter than the brightest star.

Ulrejaz is served by a band of fanatical Dark Templar called the Fist of Ulrejaz. It is believed at least some of the band survived the failure to invade Shakuras.

Warfield, General Horace

Template:StarCraft character General Horace Warfield is a Terran Confederacy military officer and advisor to Dominion Emperor Arcturus Mengsk during StarCraft: Ghost. He is in charge of Project Shadowblade, a program which converts Terran Ghosts into Spectres through the use of the dangerous gas, terrazine. The specters will "serve their true master", which may not necessarily be General Warfield.

Zasz

Template:StarCraft character Zasz is a Zerg Cerebrate and the leader of the Zerg Garm Brood in the StarCraft universe.

Zasz was one of the most clever Cerebrates, who never ceased to question his fellows in an irritating, snivelling manner. He coordinated the actions of multiple Cerebrates and also had powerful clairsentient abilities, enabling him to detect enemies (and the truth of them) over great distances. While somewhat unstable, he was extremely loyal to the Zerg Overmind.

The Garm Brood was part of the Zerg Swarm's main attack wing, along with the numerically far superior Jormungand and Surtur broods. The brood made up for its relatively small numbers by employing guerrilla tactics, including surprise attacks and frequent raids. It was known both for its extreme ferocity and the speed at which it attacks. Template:Spoiler Zasz advised the Zerg Overmind's newest Cerebrate (the player), in charge of Infested Kerrigan's chrysalis, and his aid extended to detecting nearby enemies, such as the remnants of Omega Squadron, which threatened the chrysalis on Tarsonis, and Tassadar's Expeditionary Force. He also helped to prepare the new Cerebrate for a jump through warp space.

Upon the arrival of the chrysalis at the planet Char, its psionic emanations drew the attention of Terrans, such as Arcturus Mengsk, who dispatched General Edmund Duke to recover it. Zasz was able to detect their transmissions and relay them to the Overmind.

The product of the chrysalis, Infested Kerrigan, immediately began a quest to empower her psionic abilities. Doing so required her to infiltrate a Terran science vessel, the Amerigo, and collect information on the Terran Ghost program.

Zasz accused her of putting her own whims ahead of those of the Overmind, to which Kerrigan responded that nothing would stand in her way, not even Cerebrates; but the Overmind said that Kerrigan retained most of her spirit, but was still strictly under control.

Shadow Hunters

Infested Kerrigan's new psionic powers enabled her to detect the presence of Protoss on Char, which even Zasz had not been able to detect. Discovered, Tassadar contacted her and challenged her to single combat. Zasz detected something strange about Tassadar, probably his training in the dark arts and warned Kerrigan not to fall for Tassadar's tricks.

Kerrigan was very angry. "For the last time Zasz, you question my motives and authority at your own peril."

Zasz: "You dare threaten a Cerebrate? You will be the doom of us all!"

The duel turned out to be a distraction. While she fought Tassadar, Zeratul, the Dark Templar Prelate, slew Zasz. When Kerrigan heard about this, she gloated and stated that the Overmind would resurrect him, until she realized the truth: Zeratul's attack permanently slew the Cerebrate, somehow silencing the Overmind and driving the Garm Brood into insanity. Now the primary Hive Clusters were being threatened.

Consequences

While Zeratul's blade was stuck in Zasz's body, he and the Overmind were able to read each other's thoughts. Zeratul discovered the Overmind's origin, and the Overmind learned the previously secret location of Aiur. However, the attack temporarily injured the Overmind, and it did not recover until the destruction of the Garm Brood.
