The le van family musicians
The Le Van Family Musicians are vocalists, pianists, and violin prodigies[1][2] , and they perform as well on other instruments and a variety of styles and genres of music.[3] Born and raised in a village in Alsace, France, they moved to America ten years ago.
The Le Van Family Musicians group is comprised of four musicians: Eric Le Van on the piano, his daughter Sarah on the violin, as a singer, or on the harp; his other daughter Solene on the violin, as a singer, on the mandolin, or on the guitar; and his son Sean on the keyboard, as a singer, or on the drums.
Since their first public appearance in 2003, the Le Vans have given hundreds of concerts in various venues. They have performed as guest soloists of the Cypress Pops Symphony[4][5] and of the Celeste Guild of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra[6] , the opening concert of the 26th Jazz Festival in Munster (France), as well as at Carnegie Hall[7] , Steinway Hall, Beverly Hilton (Los Angeles), La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts[8] , Steamers Jazz Club[9] , the Irvine Israel Expo[10] , Cox Auditorium (Illinois), MGM Grand (Las Vegas), Mission Viejo Cultural Arts series[11] , Livingston Community Concerts (Texas)[12] , among others. They were also invited to perform in the 3rd International Vianden Music Festival and Academy in Luxembourg.[13] Noted musicians have shared the stage with them, such as Berisford "Shep" Shepherd, Michel Hausser, Mourad Benhammou, Michael Le Van, Llew Matthews, Ron Kobayashi, Bruce Lett and Tim Pleasant.
As a family, they were selected to participate in NBC's "America's Got Talent" and featured in the French magazine Femme Actuelle[14] as well as recently on France 3[15]. Among Solene's awards are a First Place in the Last Vegas USA World Showcase (2004), First Place on America's Most Talented Kids (2005), and Gold Medal at the American Association for the Development of the Gifted and Talented (AADGT) "Passion of Music" Competition (2010), at which her brother Sean took the Silver Medal.[16]
Reception
BroadwayWorld.com states: "Whether as soloists or an ensemble, this audacious and charming family of world-class musicians have performed worldwide to great acclaim. All three children excel as pianists, violinists, and as vocalists; while their father has been lauded for his own mastery as a concert pianist and recording artist. As amazing a display of brilliance and versatility as one could ever expect to be found in a single family, these young people demonstrate just how much fun is to be had while performing onstage with one's siblings."[17]
The Orange County Register hailed them as "musical genius".[18] Polk County Enterprise praises their "glorious stage presence".[19]
