KitKatClub
== History and concept ==

The KitKatclub is a legendary night club in Berlin opened in March 1994 and founded by Austrian porn film maker Simon Thaur and his life partner Kirsten Krüger. The KitKatclub is famous all over Europe and even beyond because of its unique concept mixing very good techno / trance music to sexual freedom. The motto of the club is “Do what you want but stay in communication”. What makes the club so special is that the guests are allowed to have sex all over the venue without having to justify themself. A strict dresscode has to be respected in order to get in the KitKat the door policy being very strict. It goes from fetish, latex & leather, kinky, stylish, glamour...originality pays. The club is decorated with ultra-violet light and fluorescent colour paintings done by the Berlin based painter 'Der Träumer'. The KitKat became famous after being exposed in many German TV shows. It has to be noticed that through the years the sexual content of Kitkat tends to get softer, the music becoming more and more important for the guests than having sex. In the 90's it used to be a much "harder" club than it is now, it's probably due to the change of mentality in Berlin, the german capital not being as wild and crazy as it was back in those days.
Cosmopolitan night club for civilized people
The guests visiting the "Kitty" (as most berliners like to name the club) are not only heterosexual, a large amount of gay people are also spending their weekends in the club which makes the crowd very mixed. The KitKatclub stands for an avantgarde idea of clubbing where all the social bounderies are falling, it's not a straight club, it's not a gay club, you meet rich and poor people, young and old, ugly and beautiful, it's not about sexual orientation but only about freedom and hedonism. Another important detail about the Kitkat is the amount of regular guests who have a strong feeling to belong to the Kitty community and who hardly ever go clubbing somewhere else in Berlin. Through the years the Kitkatclub became a strong Berlin institution, selling an image of the German capital for being one of the most liberate cities in the world.
The club changed its location three times since its opening in 1994. It all began in the Glogauerstrasse in the Kreuzberg district, then in 1999 the KitKat was located in the biggest night club of Berlin, the Metropol. In 2001, a new location was found in the gay district Schoeneberg in the area of the "Schultheiss-Brauerei" / Bessemerstrasse 2.14 It is still located there today. After the summer 2006 the club is planning to move again, a new location still has to be found.
Non stop party
The program of the club goes from Friday to Sunday including three different parties. The Friday is dedicated to a different party every week, the Saturday party is called Carneball Bizarre and continues with the after hour called Piep Show from 8 am on Sunday morning, the dresscode not being necessary anymore. In the summer during the after hour the guests can also use the sand garden located behind the building. From Saturday night till Sunday evening the club almost never gets empty which is a proof of its incredible success.
Record release
Through the years a musical style has developed that some guests refer to as the “kittysound”. To give this style a platform in 2005 a KitKat record label has been founded and two CDs have been released. "Hedonistic night life in Berlin" and "The Piep Show compilation #0"
Name origin
The name KitKatClub is inspired by the legendary berliner night club from the musical cabaret in the 20's.
