Rochelle Ballantyne (born 1995) is an African American chess player. She is most known for being in the 2012 documentary Brooklyn Castle and the potential for being the world's first female African-American chess Master and grandmaster. To reach the rank of Master she needs a rank of 2200. She is currently at 1927[1] with her highest rank achieved being 1954 in January 2012.

Biography

Ballantyne graduated from I.S. 318 middle school.[2]

Chess

In 2008, at the age of 13, Ballantyne played against Garry Kasparov in game known as "Harlem Shake". [3]

Ballantyne has appeared as herself in one feature film and two TV Series.[4]
