Perfekte Welle
Perfekte Welle, meaning Perfect wave, is the name of the first hit of German pop/rock group Juli. It was the first release from their album, Es ist Juli, and peaked at number two in the German and Austrian single charts.
In December, 2004 , after the tsunami in south-east Asia, German TV and radio stations announced that they were banning the song as a mark of respect to the tsunami victims, despite the fact that it was written and released before the disaster, and the Perfect Wave of the title is a metaphor referring to an important decision.
The actual meaning of the song Perfekte Welle is about lost chances. The waves stand for the chances.
Today, Perfekte Welle remains by far Juli's biggest hit. Afterwards, they released Geile Zeit (Great Time/Hot Time), which reached #19, and three more singles which failed to break the top 30. However, the album reached #2 in Germany and Austria, and broke the top 20 in the Czech Republic.
Refrain:
Das ist die perfekte Welle,
Das ist der perfekte Tag
Lass dich einfach von ihr tragen
Denk am besten gar nicht nach
Das ist die perfekte Welle
Das ist der perfekte Tag
Es gibt mehr als du weißt
Es gibt mehr als du sagst
Chorus:
This is the perfect wave
This is the perfect day
Just let it take you away
Just stop thinking
This is the perfect wave
This is the perfect day
There is more than you know
There is more than you say
