Karrine Steffans also known as Karrine "Superhead" Steffans is a former hip hop music video feature star who made the transition into film as an actress co-starring opposite action star Vin Diesel and veteran actor Larenz Tate in the 2003 film, A Man Apart. She lives in southern California with her son. She is the author of Confessions of a Video Vixen, her memoir about her life in the hip hop world, which was controversial for its descriptions of her sexual liaisons with numerous major stars.
Early life and Career
Karrine Steffans was born on August 24, 1978 in Virgin Islands Virgin Islands. Her mother is Puerto Rican, and Danish heritage and her father is African American. According to Karrine's webite, Karrine.com, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1994 at the age of 15 to live with her father. She also lived some time in New York.
Karrine also stars early in her career along side Mr. Marcus in the Adult Movie entitled "Mr. Marcus' Cool Spot".
Adult video distributor Vivid Entertainment announced the release of a Karrine Steffans and Mr. Marcus video entitled "Superhead." Karrine Steffans plans to file a motion to stop distribution of the film, reports the New York Daily News.
Steffans admits signing a model release when filming with Mr. Marcus, according the the news story. "That was six years ago, when I was a coke whore. I was a single mom. I needed money," said Steffans. Steffans also admits to messing with a minor (Trevayne Cozart) while she was under the influence.
"I would like this unfortunate incident to stand as proof that decisions made when young, in despair and under the influence of drugs and alcohol can and most likely will come back to haunt you," Karrine Steffans said.
A Man Apart
Karrine Steffans co-starred in A Man Apart as Larenz Tate's wife. She played the role of Candice Hicks and was credited as Karrine "Yizette" Steffans in the movie's credits, according to IMDb.com.
Confessions of a Video Vixen
Karrine Steffans' first book, a memoir about her life growing up in poverty, marrying a fading rap star, becoming a stripper and later a hip hop video model and movie actress, was released by publisher Amistad on June 28, 2005, according to Amazon.com. It's been widely described as a cautionary tale about Karrine's life and chronicles her ascent from poverty to semi-stardom, her subsequent fall and homelessness, and her efforts to rebuild her life.
Sexual Liaisons
A large amount of controversy erupted following her revelations about numerous stars with whom she had sex or alluded to, including Jay-Z, Fred Durst, Ray J, Xzibit, Bill Maher, Vin Diesel, Diddy, Irv Gotti, DMX, Bobby Brown, Ja Rule, Kool G Rap, Usher, Shaquille O'Neal, Usher, Dr. Dre, and Ice T.Karrine Steffans recently told the New York Daily News that she was still thinking of ex-boyfriend comedian Bill Maher. Says Karrine Steffans in the April 20, 2006 report: "Bill was my perfect match. [Love-making] was explosive and amazing. I've never been with someone who couldn't keep his hands off me."
The Future
Karrine Steffans plans a clothing line called 'Vamp & Vixen' Rumor has it Karrine has registered the trademark (Superhead) with the U.S. Patent Office under the name Karin Stephens.
According to Karrine Steffans's website, she plans to release two more books, including a novel titled Of Ill Repute in the summer of 2006.
