James Bond 21, is the working title of EON Production's next James Bond movie. Shooting is scheduled to begin in January 2005 at Pinewood Studios for a proposed release date of November of that year. The current rumor is that the film may be based (probably lightly) upon Ian Fleming's first James Bond novel, Casino Royale. The rights to Casino Royale were recently purchased by MGM and it has been suggested that this purchase has made it possible for a serious adaptation of Casino Royale to be considered.

Unconfirmed Reports

Cast & Crew

  • Currently, it is unknown as to whether Pierce Brosnan will return for one last go as the super suave agent, James Bond. There have been numerous rumours that the role of Bond may be recast, but MGM stated in August 2003 that they intend to release the film with Pierce Brosnan in the title role. In July 2004 however, Brosnan was quoted as saying "That's it, I've said all I've got to say on the world of James Bond. Bond is another lifetime behind me." As the summer of 2004 progressed, an endless stream of potential new Bonds were rumored and even announced by some media, though Eon Productions has yet to make any announcement. Among the reported front-runners: Hugh Jackman, Clive Owen, James Purefoy, Eric Bana, Jude Law, Gerard Butler, and longshot Orlando Bloom. Brosnan, himself, is not considered out of the running, either.
  • Prior to the release of the 2002 Bond film, Die Another Day, it was reported that Michael Madsen had already been signed to reprise the role of Falco in the next movie. It remains to be seen whether this will actually occur.
  • In addition to the role of Bond being "up in the air", the director is also at this point, unknown. Directors such as Vic Armstrong, Rob Bowman, Alfonso Cuaron, Christopher Nolan, Sam Raimi, Gore Verbinski have all been mentioned in the press as possible contenders. The most popular, however, appears to be Quentin Tarantino who has been campaigning for the job since the release of his latest film, Kill Bill.
