My Hero (British TV series)

My Hero is a British comedy about a superhero named Thermoman from the planet Ultron. He is the alter ego of George Sunday, who has a romantic relationship with Janet Dawkins. They later marry and have a child. It debuted in February 2000 on BBC One, and has had four series with a total of thirty-three regular episodes of 2003. An additional Christmas special was broadcast in December 2000.
In the United States, this show replaced A Fine Romance in the PBS British Comedy line up in 2004.
Characters
- George Amon Sunday/Thermoman: Famous as Thermoman, but as the Irish shopkeeper, he appears an idiot, as he is unfamiliar with Earth culture. He is played by Irish Comedian Ardal O'Hanlon.
- Janet Charlotte Dawkins Sunday (Emily Joyce): The voice of sanity, a nurse in the Northolt Health Center. Janet was born in 1969.
- Apollo 11 "Ollie" Sunday(voice of Finlay Stroud): Son of George and Janet born at the end of series 2. He also has superhuman powers even though he is only half super.
- Piers Crispin (Hugh Dennis): Janet's boss and "Britain's favorite T.V. doctor," though he is not a good a doctor and is more concerned with his television career.
- Arnie (Lou Hirsch): George's cousin, originally a superhero himself but lost his powers because he began charging for his services. Originally lived in New York City, but moved to Las Vegas in series 2 and to Northolt in series 3, where he has remained ever since. Currently in a relationship with Mrs. Raven.
- Mrs. Raven (Geraldine McNulty): The sadistic receptionist in Northolt Health Center. She has a romantic relationship with Arnie, has triplets from previous relationship, and despises them to no end.
- Ella Dawkins (Lill Roughley): Janet's mother. She thinks Janet should have married Piers.
- Stanley Dawkins (Tim Wylton): Janet's father. He hates his wife and is rather suspicious of George.
- Tyler (Philip Whitchurch): Janet and George's crazy neighbor, who believes aliens and Star Wars are real, and often has tea on Jupiter or some other outer planets.
