We desperateley need somebody to mediate in the conflict at the Swedish Wikipedia. It has now reach a point where it's starting to damage the Wikipedia itself. My attempts to cool things down have been fruitless and I don't think I'll be able to succed with it so we really need some outside assistance. // Liftarn 09:18 Jan 8, 2003 (UTC)
- What do you expect me to do, offer to cut the wiki in two so that the real mother offers to give up claim? My simple recommendation is for both of you to take a break from the wiki for a few days -- go visit a museum, play some chess, read a book, whatever. Don't read the wiki, don't think about the wiki, and most certainly don't try to sneak in and mess with the other guy's edits while he's not looking. If I hear more complaints from or about you two, I intend (since you insist on treating me as an authority figure who can be appealed to) to back this up by banning both of your accounts temporarily. Once you've (both) calmed down, please think what are my goals here? and what is the purpose of fighting with other wiki users? What does it get me other than aggravation and high blood pressure? What does it give other people reading the wiki other than aggravation and high blood pressure? Would I be better off keeping a lower profile, giving other people the benefit of the doubt, and always being polite and constructive in discussions? If your answers include "yelling at people" and "yes, I love receiving and causing aggravation", then please leave and never come back. ;) Hopefully, your answers will be more positive, and you'll (both) remember that Wikipedia is supposed to be fun as well as educational. --Brion 09:51 Jan 8, 2003 (UTC)
- I think we need somebody (preferably on "the outside", not necessarily you) to mediate in this issue. We both seem to want to build a better and larger Wikipedia, at least that what we both say. The problems seems to be that he thinks I'm a troll and nothing I can do can make him change his mind and I'm just about to consider him a troll. Oh, and btw this isn't any edit war if you had that impression. Update: Now he has (again) started to (ab)use his sysop privileges in this dispute. // Liftarn 15:21 Jan 8, 2003 (UTC)
- Did you not read a word I wrote? I'm banning you both, take a vacation. --Brion 18:05 Jan 8, 2003 (UTC)
- Perhaps a bit of background is needed. Earlier it was just a matter of insults. Even if that is annoying it's not any real problem. However, now it has become more serious. Dan know there have been murder threats against me and that is the reason I'm very concerned about my privacy. I don't think there's any real danger (those who threat people seldom do anything) it would be interesting to know why he think it's so necessary to publish my full name and location. The Data Protection Act may be an ill conceived law, but if can help me protect me and my family from harm I'm willing to use it. // Liftarn 08:26 Jan 9, 2003 (UTC)
I notice some comments in the deletion log about the delete function not working right -- what's up? I'll try to fix it if there's a problem... --Brion 08:28 Dec 7, 2002 (UTC)
- I'm not sure, and I don't have time to play with it because I'm behind schedule to make my deadline on Monday, but I stopped by for a minute and tried to delete a page, and it didn't go away. I thought when I deleted pages that had no links to them before, they ceased to exist, but I may just not have known how to find them again. This one doesn't go away when I delete it.
- What exactly happened? Did it tell you that it had deleted the page, or did it do something else after clicking the 'yes, delete it' button? --Brion 09:19 Dec 7, 2002 (UTC)
- It said it was deleted, but it wasn't -- the page was still there, but without any text. It may have had to do with there being an article page and a talk page and my trying to delete them one at a time. Or not. -- isis 09:46 Dec 7, 2002 (UTC)
- Hmm, "without any text" meaning a completely empty/blank article area, or meaning the "(There is currently no text in this page)" message? (This latter is very misleading -- the message only shows for pages that don't exist; a page with no text will just show blank. This needs to be replaced with something useful.) --Brion 10:05 Dec 7, 2002 (UTC)
- I don't remember whether it said anything or not, but it was an edit page, and when I clicked on 'cancel' (without typing anything on it) it turned into an article page that may have said there is no text. -- isis 10:47 Dec 7, 2002 (UTC)
- By the way, I'm not sure if this is a problem with the software or my ignorance of how to use it, but when I search I don't find articles whose titles are letters, that is, I can't find A.U.M.P. Church by searching on the letters, but on "a u m p church" it gives me all the ones with "church" in the title. -- isis 09:10 Dec 7, 2002 (UTC)
Greetings from http://sv.wikipedia.org/ ! We are having a bit of problem with a user from 217.211.91.247 who delete content of articles. I'm restoring the content, but it keeps being deleted. I have wtitten about the problem in http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabotage Could you please look into it, thanks! // Liftarn
Note on deletions - I haven't noticed anything odd about them... but if I do I'll get back to you :) KJ
Well, I have fixed them as soon as I noticed them, but 217.211.91.247 keeps changing them back. What has happened is
- Text is removed from the articles on Anders Klarström, Bevara Sverige Svenskt and Leif Zeilon
- In the article about Sverigedemokraterna the note about NPOV is removed.
- In the article about Combat 18 the text about the 1999 bombings was removed and the link to the article in English was made broken.
- Text about the background of Svenska motståndsrörelsen was removed.
- Text removed from the article on Nationell Ungdom.
- Much text from the article on Front National gets removed.
(please note that the changes are made in the Swedish articles) // Liftarn
- If you keep changing the pages back, they'll eventually get bored and find something more interesting to do. (Keep an eye on the user contributions list - click the IP in recentchanges or history list. If an edit they made is still the most recent, it'll be marked 'top') Or, one of your sysops can ban the IP. --Brion 09:32 Dec 10, 2002 (UTC)
- I have a pretty good idea about who it is (I think the user is identical to one at susning.nu) and it doesn't look like he/she/it is going to get bored so easily. Do you notice the common theme of the articles? // Liftarn 10:15 Dec 10, 2002 (UTC)
Brion, why does the textbox work for me here in the Normal skin, but it still doesn't work right for me in the Esperanto version? --Chuck SMITH
- Did you try turning off 'edit box full width' in your prefs? --Brion 10:49 Dec 9, 2002 (UTC)
I didn't know if it would matter, but I created a User:rambot for all the rambot entries, that way anyone can tell at a glance if it is me or the bot doing the work. I didn't know if this meant there could be some way that we could hack in some kind of special case so that the Recent Changes screen avoids all "rambot" entries. The current bot run is going to take about 7 days to complete, but after that I was planning on rechecking the remaining 10,000 city articles that were missed (to verify the data, as people were noticing problems). I didn't know if there was any new work done on trying to clear the Recent Changes screen of bot entries. -- RM
- If the rambot entries weren't on recentchanges, would people have noticed the problems in the data? --Brion 21:22 Dec 9, 2002 (UTC)
- Unless they were viewing recent changes from a month ago, yes. None of the errors that people have recently given me were about the current bot run. So it appears as if most people are ignoring those entries. That said, I understand the purpose of the RC. Nevertheless, I just wish there was some way that I could do my work without bothering others. It is also a (minor?) annoyance to have to slow the bot down this much. A filter would be a blessed thing. -- RM
Hi Brion. is it ok to change the logo for the Swedish wikipedia? So far we have one alternative ready, with swedish text and a little bit happier in color:
This is how it looks...
http://sv.wikipedia.org/upload/b/bc/Wiki.png
Dan Koehl 11:42 Dec 10, 2002 (UTC)
- Done. It should now be linked to the uploaded file 'Wiki.png', so if you upload a new version it should take over automatically (clear your cache if need be!). --Brion 21:46 Dec 10, 2002 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help once again! Looks good? / Dan Koehl 00:53 Dec 11, 2002 (UTC)
Hey Brion - Wiktionary is a bit much to type for inline links to Wiktionary articles. Is the d: namespace being used for or planned to be used for anything? --mav
Its only tempoary Mav anyway, We need to get it moved to languagecode.wiktionary.org, but the main question is hwo we are going to link it back and forth maybe... enwt: for wiktionary and enwp: for wikipedia.
-fonzy
Thank you so much for the bot feature. I look forward to when you finish up and we have an option to turn it on. -- Ram-Man
- Sweet! Thanks Brion! --mav
As I mentioned in email sometimes the full headers produce new articles! Aludra Thanks again for helping. BF 01:38 Dec 16, 2002 (UTC)
Hi Brion, I have a favor to ask. I posted this question to Maverick, and he referred me to you. Somebody has taken my comments to "Karl" on Dan Keshet's talk page and moved them to the Holocaust page, signing my name, creating the impression that I am a holocaust denier. I've made an entry on the Vandalism_in_progress page, and contacted the anonymous user's ISP, Sentex.net in Canada. Is it possible to check the server logs and find out if any registered users have logged in from the IP block (64.7.128.0 - 64.7.159.255) on December 18 between, say, 8:00-10:00 UTC? Or any other information which would help identify this person? If necessary, I can provide Perl support to help grok logfiles. Thanks! --Len

Sorry to come here and whine, but I'm having problems with a user a the Swedish Wikipedia. That he has been calling me named and trying to insult me I don't mind that much ("sticks and stones...") but now he have threatened to block me and delete every article I've ever written if I would ever dare to edit any of "his" articles. I tried pointing him to http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia%3AWikipetiquette and "Wikipedia doesn't belong to you; you have to share it with everyone else." and also http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia%3ABe_bold_in_updating_pages but the only response I got was a grin. Namecalling I can ignore, but this actually effects the editing itself. Please advice. // Liftarn 09:32 Dec 19, 2002 (UTC)
- I'm sorry guys, but I really can't mediate your dispute -- I don't speak Swedish and have no way of knowing who's insulting whom (or who deserves it). All of you, try to be nice. --Brion 09:36 Dec 19, 2002 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll just ignore him and continue editing as usual. As I mentioned it's not really the insults that's the problem. Anyway, if he does something nasty I'll let you know. // Liftarn 11:58 Dec 19, 2002 (UTC)
Now he has started locking every page he writes. It's not that many articles yet, but if it goes on it may create a problem. // Liftarn 16:35 Dec 20, 2002 (UTC)
This person is an admin? You should probably being this up on the mailing list -- Tarquin
- Obviously he is. Which one of the mailing lists? There are a few to select from. Also I don't know if it's really worth the trouble of signing up for yet another mailing list since so far it's just a minor problem (for me at least). // Liftarn 17:24 Dec 20, 2002 (UTC)
Please, consider carefully, before you establish an opinion here, thats all I can say.I am the sysop who has locked pages Liftarn changed with errors, making irrelevent langauge links and such. he is deliberately provocing me the last days. I am not alone on the swedish wikipedia being troubled be the guy, but I might soon be, because normal users simply vanish. I have called him alot of things before because after months of terror hes made me mad, and now reading what he writes I also call him lyer. Feel free to discuss this on maillists, but if its OK on the wikipedia for one person to terrorize other contributors then I suppose I did something wrong putting thousand of hours of material here. Wikifying and correcting spelling is somethinf completely different to making errors in other peoples productions. Liftarn has had editing wars since october on susning.nu and swedish wikipedia. Some files I delited some week ago, (after negotiating with the two heroes, who had been a pain in the as for more than a day, and couldnt continue the war) Some files contained 51 versions. The swedish wikipedia has seen a positive development since 21st of november when I left www.susning.nu after the owner started to show advertisment. I havent made everything myself on the site, we are a good nuclear team (to which I belive Liftarn is too much an individualist to belong) and we have fun together, but I hav done A LOT (20 november it was 250 articles, today over 3 500!). we are slowly building up quality material. Theres anly one person, Liftarn above who is having all sots of discussons everywhere, making people angry and leaving. I do to tolerate this, I I am wrong, Id be glad to know if I was wrong when I decided to put time and efforts here.
I have email and sorces of other people being upset with Liftarn. The major problem is, most people tend to write articles, lacking time to make "politics" here, me as one of them. And obviously, theres also persons who is using an open system in order to tease and harass others. is there by any means, any other protection than locking files temporarily until the person finds another playground? Dan Koehl 17:38 Dec 20, 2002 (UTC)
- Yes, I respect you for the work you have put in and please take this as constructive criticism. I had no problem with you until you started picking fights and calling me names. To me it looks like you're abuseing the system and aren't willing to work together with the other users. // Liftarn 17:52 Dec 20, 2002 (UTC)
- You had no problem with me? Boy, do I have records showing you problems with people in general...
- I think we worked out things quite well. I wrote some articles about different rats and you added the taxonomy. // Liftarn
- I dont need any contructive critisism from you, I want you to leave me alone, as well as not make any errors in articles I write. I have only protected articles where you made errors, in spite of what I asked you to do over a week ago. I have never spoken about deleting your articles, THIS IS A DELIBERATE LIE.
- Who made the errors is a question that's not settled. If you make some erors I could correct them and vice versa. That's the strenght of a wiki. I noticed that you deleted the text where you threatened to delete my articles as well as most of the insults so as far as I'm concerend that matter is something we can leave behind now. // Liftarn
I locked (NOW) one of your "articles" as evidence what you are doing at: http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georg_Stjernhjelm so people can se what you do when you produced anything containing more text than three lines. Old garbage, not linked not edited, which you want others to clean up, so you can make a language link there afterwards, thinking you are doing some sorts of meta work?
- Interesting way to work. How do you expect me (or anyone else) to fix the text if the article is locked? And what is your problem with language links? I think it's a good idea to ling together articles across languages. // Liftarn
- Normally, on the english wikipedia such an article would be delited, I didnt, but I sked you to stop do such times which you made a system some days ago pasting SUCH SHIT also on articles I had wrote, without bothering to edite the the text into modern swedish or making links or even checking if the text at all brought anything new to the articles, Thats pollution and deliberate trying to destroy aother peoples work and their spirit.
- BRION, what rules apply in such situations? Is everyting relying on the maturenes of the users, and their mutual willingnes to cooperate, or is there any rules where one can get peace to work when theres a troublemaker there? Dan Koehl 19:11 Dec 20, 2002 (UTC)
- Dan - I don't speak Swedish, so I can't tell if the material is at all useful. Perhaps it speaks for itself and everyone except Lift considers it "garbage". But if it's stuff from an old encyclopedia, our usual way to deal with this is not to just delete it. Instead, we write something like:
- From 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica, needs to be wikified
- I did not delete it. Liftarn pasted 100 year old material on one or more already written pages, Articles that tokk me some time to preresearch, write, than rewrite together with the second largets contributor at or place, Josephzohn, than reediting the text, a total work of an hour. Liftarn finds an 100 year article somewehere, opens the file we did together, he doesent read what we did, he doesent put two minuets work to integrate the eventual new details, he simply paste an non edited texblock on the page, with no links or anything. Written in Old Swedish, impossible to link anywhere, no spare lines between the lines just a grey mass of text, and it looked disguesting. How would you feel if some one did this on a work you put some hours of work into? Once again he did this without discussing before, and from my point of view, deliberately to make other people upset. And then he claims this is the wiki way, and that I hinder other people to write!
- Please note that later, when I had time, went back and edited up all the articles (except the ones you locked and/or deleted) so they are in modern Swedish and with wiki links. // Liftarn
- If I would take this seriously, If Liftarn pastes a lot of text containing material in topics which interests me, (but not him) and of which I have some minor knowledge (and he doesnt) with whom shall I discuss in order to get the article correct again, with Liftarn, (who lacks knowledge, but claims his right to "write") the original writer (dead since 150 years) or who? Shall we also use the pages from this book about jews and gypsies? (I shiver here...)
- Maybe, a better explanation than a lot of words, I hereby upload and paste picture Liftarn was using until yesterday on all his pages:, Does it give you a clue?
- All my pages? It appeard once in my user page. Then you started adding it everywhere instead of answering my questions. // Liftarn
- I did not delete anyone of those files, I removed them from the article and put them on the discussion page, asking Liftarn to put some work on the text, so it could be integrated withing the original. He hasnt touched his valueble material, but he has accused me of being tyrannic, and other things. All his "work" is still there, available for him or anyone else to edit, (good luck with that)
- above the text, and other people then try to improve it. Generally, protecting pages is not a good way to resolve conflicts -- it's not the "wiki way". Sysops on Wikipedia are not editors -- their job is to enforce the rules, not to make them. If you protect pages and such, please make sure you have the support from the rest of sv.wikipedia.
- At 12 of december, when asking Brion for advice since Liftarn and his enemy was making editwar (which they still do att susning.nu) Brion gave me the following advice: /"You may consider locking out certain pages from editing (Skydda denna sida) in an attempt to enforce a cooling-off period. (With rabid weasels though, this may not help. :)"/ You can find it your self on his (Brions) meta page. As i told you I have (temporarily) locked some 5-6 pages, until theres no need to look them, see above. Is theres any other methods to protect your work from evil persons wanting to have edit wars (in matters that doesnt interest them, just for the interest to make the contributor pissed off) so please let me know. Until now, I followed Brions advice, which actually has put an end to the dit war. Dan Koehl 12:47 Dec 21, 2002 (UTC)
- I presently has made the wisest choice, I dont write anything, and so I dont have to have any edititing war with terrorists. I let them win. Its simple. Dan Koehl 12:47 Dec 21, 2002 (UTC)
- Lift -- are you trying to import an entire old encyclopedia? If so, may I suggest to do this in a slower, more deliberate fashion -- i.e. better work on modernizing individual articles instead of trying to "dump" as much material as possible. We're trying to write articles of a quality comparable with that of other modern 'pedias, our focus is quality, not quantity. Ignore the article count. --Eloquence
- Actually I'm done with importing and those that are still there and I have access to have been updated. // Liftarn
- OK, things are getting a bit clearer. Liftarn, adding large amounts of material to existing articles without doing some essential editing first is definitely not a good idea. The next time you intend to do this, please open the text first in a text editor and try to improve it as much as possible, before importing it into Wikipedia. Otherwise situations like the one you complained about here are likely to arise.
- Since you don't plan to add any more material soon, I see no reason to continue protecting these pages. Do you think you two can give it another try and see if you can work on articles together? --Eloquence
- I just wanted to make it clear that it was only one article that existed earlier and the editing of the article was done shortly after adding the text. The articles he have locked seems to be to prevent people from adding language links. I don't think there will be any problem (unless somebody goes looking for it) since we rarely edit on the same topics. // Liftarn 15:45 Dec 21, 2002 (UTC)
On a related matter the above mentioned user have been posting my full name and adress on at least two pages in the Swedish wikipedia. Not only is it a violation of my privacy, but also of Swedish (and European) law. Since I'm concerned about my privacy I would prefer that the article would be deleted. // Liftarn 10:10 Jan 7, 2003 (UTC)
- And where may I find these pages? --Brion 10:24 Jan 7, 2003 (UTC)
- They are on the articles "Julting 2002" and "Staffan Vilcans" (gee, he dedicated an entire article to me) in the Swedish Wikipedia. He also used the article "Internet troll" to invent behavious he calls trollish and use links to talk pages I have participated in. It's especially interesting since it's not even a Swedish word. // Liftarn 12:15 Jan 7, 2003 (UTC)
- This is the same real name you use in posts to a public mailing list in association with the same pseudonym? I have my doubts that this is legitimate concern for "privacy"; on the surface at least, it sounds like you're trying to abuse an ill-conceived law to censor criticism against you. --Brion 12:56 Jan 7, 2003 (UTC)
- Yes, but the difference is that I there have choosen to use my full name. Also I don't include my physical adress in my e-mails. If you fell censorship may be an issue the content of the article could be moved elsewhere. I don't see the need of an entire Wikipedia article about me or why he would write such an article about somebody he calles "a nobody". I also object to him using Wikipedia articles (as opposed to talke pages and simmilar) to wage his war with me. // Liftarn 13:50 Jan 7, 2003 (UTC)
if you are polite to the trolls they give you gold coins. Vera Cruz
- Maybe once in a great while, but usually they just give you more shit. -- isis 17:08 Dec 19, 2002 (UTC)

Hi! Would you mind setting up a test version for the new Portuguese Wikipedia? There are a few lines left to translate, but i would really like the other users (they finally appeared!!!!!) to test it at once. I am a bit insecure with the translation, so this is very important.
I've uploaded it to http://www.yvesjmt.kit.net/LanguagePt.php
Can you add me as an admin at the test.wikipedia? Username 'Yves Marques Teixeira' pass: 'lol'
thank you! My email, in case you need, is junqueira at brturbo.com Yves 23:49 Dec 20, 2002 (UTC)
- I'll try to get that set up tonight. --Brion
- Ok. I am sorry if I sounded like trying to rush you. That was not my intention. Take your time. Thank you! Yves
I tried the DNS redirect thing and it failed on me. More on my talk page. If you like I can forward you the account info which has the user id and pswd. FYI I only registered with Verio, I didn't sign up for any service. --mav
I dont want to use Brions page for the purpose of any war, why I want answer any more comments about my person here. I kindly ask tou all to consider what is in the future said about me is not true. By the support of people like Liftarn you now makes the other people (not fighting back) who has problem with Liftarn, on the Swedish wikipedia unprotected. He can now claim his right to do what everhe is doing, because people on the English wikipedia support him.
I want unlock those 4-5 files until I can download the entire material and restart somewhere else, without terrorists. I did it the 21 of nvember,(Please see the statistics for the Swedish wikipedia since then) and I can do it again. But when I do, do you Eloquence, also want me to undelete all the nazist files and the accusations against living persons in Sweden?
Because if you want editing wars on the Swedish wikipedia, why limit that to those 4-5 aticles?
- My last words on this page regarding this topic is citing Liftans own words (see his page): //" Could be an idea. I'll consider it if it continues. He is a good contributor and he had worked really hard building the swedish Wikipedia so I'm reluctant to do something that may cause him to leave. // Liftarn 17:31 Dec 20, 2002 (UTC) //
Eloquence, just consider for one second, what kind of person writes something like that? Since I interupted the naziwar (created by Liftarn on www.susning.nu and developed on swedish wikipedia) the 12 of december he has done nothing but trying to cause me to leave. He already caused other to leave. I am sad he has your support in this noble task. I guess I am learning a lot.
On the page http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diskussion:Mithra where Liftarn is lying about his sources in discussion with the user Sven Eriksson], Sven says that he fears that if everyone behaved lika Liftarn, wikis will turn into a chain of repeated legends, reflecting its users rather than the reality, and it will become a useless wiki.
I was working against this, trying to make the Swedish wikipedia a serious sorce of knowledge, not just a product from whoever shout most, and is more concearned in fighting than in writing. I was also trying to protect the avarage quality of the material, the owner of the site (Boomis) who probaaly doesnt want any personal acusations against lliving swedes on his site, and I was trying to protect informal rules and democracy. I suppose I was wrong.
I wish you all a very merry christmas, and the currage and strenght in your decisions what and who you supported here. I, will never, ever, contribute one word were terrorism is OK. Dan Koehl 17:52 Dec 21, 2002 (UTC)
- First, regardless of who is right or who is wrong here -- as I said, unless you provide translations, I can't look at the actual contents -- the use of words like "terrorism" is hyperbole and not very helpful. If you could specify exactly what kind of accusations Liftarn has made against living Swedes (which seems to be a separate matter from the "importing 100 year old articles" thing), I could respond. In general, we try to follow NPOV even when dealing with historical legends: Attribute and explain the views of those who believe in the legend, attribute and explain the views of those who don't. --Eloquence
All this fighting on wiki makes me wondering if it's worth it, but I'll give my view on this, I doesn't claim it's impartial it's just my view. Yes, Dan got mad and called Liftarn names, that's true. It was a little unnecessary, but I would lye if I said I didn't understand him. But I have not seen Dan threatening Liftarn with removing all his articles, can we please get a link to that discussion?
Liftarn does a lot of small irritation things that makes people explode after some time (I've seen this on a few places on the Internet). Usually the things taken one by one would not cause such a reaction and I don't think Liftarn really understands the reactions.
I would say that the cut and paste things is just laziness. As Dan I didn't get the point in copying from the old swedish encyclopedia and as I understood it, it was a way to boost the amount of articles, but I might have been wrong. Anyway I didn't see any discussion about it before it started.
There are also some other irritations. Once Liftarn put an question mark in the middle of an article I wrote. That's a very stupid way to question things because I might not have seen it. I would have preferred if he checked the facts himself and started an discussion about it. But it's a typical easy way to do thing the he sometimes does.
After I edited the swedish article about Christmas (which had no reference to christianity before my edit) Liftarn questioned Christmas was a christian feast. In the discussion he claimed Jesus could not have been born in the winter since the shepherd where sleeping outdoors, he even changed the article to the wording that Jesus was probably born in the summer with this as the only argument. An amazingly uncritical thought, the shepherd where living in Palestine not Sweden and no one had claimed, neither in the article nor in the discussion, that Christmas was the date Jesus was born, only that it was celebrated then.
Sometimes when I ask Liftarn about his sources for the things he have written he gives me links on the Internet. I must say I think the Internet is often very questionable as a source. Anyway it's usually hard to value the information and decide if it's relevant. I have not seen any attempts from Liftarn to do this with his referred links.
Once when I asked for the source for what he had written (article Mithras) he referred to the English wikipedia, but I identified the IP-number who wrote that article as Liftarn! Actually I'm a mean person, and I doubt it was a mistake because the only sources he have provided until now is two links which he found in Google after the article was written.
This kind of uncritical and lazy behavior is the ground for the irritations and I understand Dan. It's not fun to research and write articles when others add non relevant or erroneous comment to them and cannot provide any proof for them. I doubt I will continue to write at any wiki if I have to fight things like this all the time.

P.S. Eloquence, what would you like to get translated? D.S.
I'll respond on my talk page. --Eloquence

Brion, could you delete Image:Jennajameson.jpg for me? For some reason the software says that it is either a bad or empty title but as you can see there is nothing empty in that picture. I don't think fair use applies. --mav
Brion, was sent to you from the Village Well. I am a new Israeli ... (insert whatever you like to call your newbies), and since the heb site is empty I was wondering what could one do to help. Besides the point just wondering about your interest in film. I studied film and hope to end up making them some day in the near future (my first contrib was Un Chien Andalou. Thanks. -- aarrrggghhh
- I'm a little behind on setting up new language wikis; I have to tweak some of the conversion scripts to get them back in synch with the current database schema. I'll try to get it set up in the next couple days! --Brion 22:02 Dec 26, 2002 (UTC)
- Definitely don't rush this on my account. Are there any other people in charge of making something of the Heb wiki once the software is up?
I would offer my help with the code, only I should probably learn to write some before... Thanks anyway, -- aarrrggghhh
Performance has been great in the last few days, is this because of InnoDB? Or are we just getting less traffic? --Eloquence
- It's the light holiday traffic. The InnoDB tables are still only running on test.wikipedia.org, as I haven't yet ironed out some cases of search index synchronization problems. --Brion 03:20 Dec 28, 2002 (UTC)
Re Image:Dimndust.htm; is it your intent to place the book under GFDL license? --Brion 23:21 Dec 29, 2002 (UTC)
- Yes. -- isis 23:43 Dec 29, 2002 (UTC)
Hi, Brion, I was looking at the LanguageIt.php versions on Sourceforge and I found that I probably made a mistake in sending you the last file. Sourceforge version 1.3 is in fact reverting all the changes I had made in version 1.2 and it should be quite similar to 1.1, if not the same. If you wish, I could prepare a 1.5 restoring 1.2 and including the "math" => 1 string added in 1.4. Please, forgive my confusion, and
Have a joyful New Year :-))) Gianfranco
Hi Brion! I've tried to search for some common Englsih words in the Swedish Wikipedia, this would be a good way to find English articles that need translation or removal, but all common words seems to be blocked. Is there any chance to change the blocked worlds from English to Swedish? // Sven Eriksson
- MySQL's fulltext search index is hardwired with English stopwords. --Brion 15:38 Jan 2, 2003 (UTC)
Hi Brion! Someone had left some good advices for you at zh.wikipedia.org . I support these advices.

Brion you're quicker than me Ericd
How come today I'm getting "error"s in the left margin of my "older versions" screens, please? I think I would have noticed if they had been there before, but they've been there since I got up this noon. It says:
Move this page
Error
Error
Discuss this page
What links here
Please make it stop saying that. -- isis 21:53 Jan 7, 2003 (UTC)
- We've changed the sidebar behavior so that there are links to the article, talk page etc. on screens where they were previously missing. For example, when you click on a user page that doesn't exist User:Foobarbar, you can now directly visit their talk page, or contributions, without having to put some text there first. The errors probably relate to your sysop status (I suppose these would be "Protect" and "Delete" links), I didn't test properly with sysop status enabled. Will be fixed ASAP. --Eloquence
- Fixed, but should be double-checked for correctness. The deleteThisPage() and protectThisPage() link-generation functions were making different checks than the functions that called them, returning an error when not in plain viewing mode; I've changed them to check simply for the existence of the article instead. --Brion 22:21 Jan 7, 2003 (UTC)
Yes, it seems to be okay now. The two "Error"s have turned into "Delete this page" and "Protect this page," and when I put my cursor on them, they show me the name of the article whose "Older versions" page I'm on. Thanks very much. -- isis 22:36 Jan 7, 2003 (UTC)
Brion can you have a look at Sexual lubricant & Talk:Sexual lubricant
Hi Brion, Me again. What can I do to help with the Hebrew wiki. I'm kind of getting the feeling that there aren't many other people interested (so who put up the page??). Will translating the language.php file help? What about all the Right-to-Left troubles.. :-) Please let me know what I can do to help. Aarrrggghhh
- Yes, the translation would be a help! I'm not sure just how right-to-left is going to work; we'll see what happens once the interface strings are translated and it's running... --Brion 17:35 Jan 8, 2003 (UTC)
- Where do I put the stuff (front page, php file) once it's translated? It's going to be UTF-8 text, if that's OK? Aarrrggghhh 19:13 Jan 9, 2003 (UTC)
- Perfect! Just attach a copy and e-mail it, either direct to me or to the developers' list (see Wikipedia:Mailing lists). Or, try on meta.wikipedia.org (which is set up for utf-8) and see if it posts properly. --Brion 23:07 Jan 9, 2003 (UTC)
Hi Brion. I've got myself an account at Sourceforge: "tarquindarkling" (there's another "tarquin", who'd been inactive for ages last time I checked.... :( Once I've worked out how do have multiple logins with WinCVS I'm ready :-) -- Tarquin 15:51 Jan 9, 2003 (UTC)
- Looks like I'm in :-) Will I find english text in LanguageFr.php that needs translating, or variables missing from that file I have to add? -- Tarquin 22:43 Jan 9, 2003 (UTC) Never mind, it seems to be the former. -- t
- Probably a little of both, double-check. --Brion 23:07 Jan 9, 2003 (UTC)
- Now why do I suddenly get this feeling of impending doom? ;-) -- Tarquin 23:14 Jan 9, 2003 (UTC)
- Problem: I tried to commit the file & I got: "cvs [server aborted]: "commit" requires write access to the repository" -- t
- Were you working from a directory where you made an anonymous checkout, or did you make a separate checkout from the non-anonymous server? (Remember you need to run it through SSH. I don't know how to do this with WinCVS; when on windows I just use cygwin and pretend I'm running a funny unix.) --Brion 00:44 Jan 10, 2003 (UTC)
