The Silver Branch is a powerful symbol in Celtic mythology, mostly as the emblem of the Bards, or the "Poet's Craft." [1] Featured in The Voyage of Bran, it represents entry into Annwn, the Celtic Otherworld: "To enter the Otherworld before the appointed hour marked by death, a passport was often necessary, and this was usually a silver branch of the sacred apple-tree bearing blossoms."
