Sugarloaf

A sugarloaf was the traditional form, a soft cone like a vertically-stretched gumdrop, in which refined sugar was exported from the Caribbean and eastern Brazil from the 17th to 19th centuries. In Rio de Janeiro, Sugarloaf ("Pão de Açúcar) is the steep-sided mountain that dominates the landscape of the city and the bay.

While the link to sugar-refining probably gives the one in Rio the most direct claim to the name, many other flat-topped hills or mountains in different parts of the English-speaking world are also named "The Sugarloaf"; for example there is a Sugarloaf Mountain on the Appalachian_National_Scenic_Trail in Maine, USA.

Sugarloaf Township is located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.

Sugarloaf is a pineapple as well as the company formed to film Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Sugarloaf is also a pop music group best known for their hit songs "Green-Eyed Lady" (1970) and "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You" (1975).
