Power over Ethernet

Hey - I saw Power over ethernet when it first came in and was mulling it over. Look at IEEE 802.3 - maybe it could be rolled into that somehow, but I'm not up enough on the IEEE standards to handle it. Ocon 22:18, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Hi! I have considered using a bot for this. However, it still has to be done partly by hand, because some articles have all their headings incorrectly capitalised (so they should all be fixed to prevent inconsistency), or they need to be refactored slightly if the heading level is wrong; I'm quite used to doing them in batches now, which seems to be reasonably quick :-) I expect to be finished in a week or two in any case, which is probably shorter than it'd take to create/approve a bot. —Lady Lysiŋe Ikiŋsile | Talk 04:48, 2004 Jul 9 (UTC)

American spelling

Melbourne railway stations

It would have been nice if you had done any research at all before listing all the Melbourne railway station articles on Cleanup, with the implication that they should go to VFD.

At present, we have Wikipedia:WikiProject Melbourne, and one of our main goals is to get decent articles for the railway stations of the city. We've only recently started on these, and as can be seen from the stations linked from Alamein railway line, Melbourne, I think we can get quite decent articles on these. And they're only first drafts, anyway.

Oh, and for the record, we do have a "railway map" - List of Melbourne railway stations. But please, in future, if you're going to pull a stunt like this, a little consultation with the local editors wouldn't go astray. Ambivalenthysteria 09:36, 12 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Velvet Mayhem

Hi. You took Velvet Mayhem off Cleanup, removed the cleanup header, replaced it with the vfd header, but didn't list it on the VfD page. Were you planning on doing that? Spelling (and other matters).

I appreciate your copyediting of the SAMPA transcriptions in the Russian language article. However, I'd like to ask you to refrain from changing oecumenic to ecumenic in the last section. I've had to revert it three times already. You are, of course, welcome to modify the content in any way you like, but the text quite deliberately adheres to the classical spelling. If you continue to change this word without adding content, I will complain of vandalism. (<— haste makes waste! stupid of me...) A. Shetsen 03:45, 24 Jul 2004 (UTC). ADDED: Actually, I think I see your difficulty with the word. But "ubiquitous" doesn't quite cover the intended meaning. I've put in a stub article to explain. You've put a VFD notice on Globulation2, but you forgot to list it on the VFD page. I'd also disagree with marking a VFD notice as a "minor" edit. Marking an article to be deleted seems to be one of the more MAJOR things that anyone could do. Joyous 04:19, Aug 1, 2004 (UTC)

Thank you for the minor edit on my user page. Your change made it proper English, and it does read better that way. You might want to be cautious about editing user pages, though. I didn't mind (actually, I find it interesting to know who has been viewing my user page), but some people might take offense. Chilean Freeways

I notice you added a VfD tag to this article, but I couldn't find its entry on the VfD page or its archives. While I am inclined to agree with you that the article is useless (at least in its present form), could I politely ask that you list the page or get rid of the tag, as it makes a real mess of Wikipedia to have half-done tasks like that lying around. A {{PAGENAME}} variable with escapes

I'd like to see a variant of the {{PAGENAME}} that escapes spaces and other characters so that, if the current page were "Article page", it would return "Article%20page". It could be useful in adding article names to external links in URLs. --Poccil

I notice you marked some of my record labels as "{notable}}". I know some of them are very short, but it is a work in progress. I have a pile of history about hundreds of record labels and it will take some time to add it all...

Testament (metal)

You put a {{notable}} tag on Testament (metal). However, you give no reason and neither does the "What's in what's out" page. Although I didn't create it, the band itself is notable, as a Google search will turn up. Yes, it's a substub, but the proper course of action in this case would have been to put it on VfD, or preferrably, do a bit of research on them and at least turn it into a stub. The Battle of the Champions

Hi Poccil: I was convinced for a long time that this was a Don King production, but I found out otherwise. Don King used his company's logo and stars around it for fights promoted by him. This fight had the Iveco logo all over the ring. Moreover, Roberto Duran outpoinited a brave little known English boxer named Jimmy Batten in the card's closing fight. Duran had recently signed with Arum, after being promised a title shot by Arum, who, as you know, to King, Arum is The Devil in person.

Erik The Red

In the article on Erik the Red, you have written that Eystribyggð means "Red Dragon" in old swedish. This seems really strange to me. I don't know Old Swedish, but in Norwegian the names of the two villages sound more like "Eystribyggð=Østerbygd=East Village" and "Vestribyggð=Vesterbygd=West Village" to me. Also, since Erik was of Norwegian descent, why would he use Old Swedish? Do you have any source for "Red Dragon"?--MaxMad 09:33, 1 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Adina Howard

I pride myself on my NPOV writing; can you please cite what you find potentially NOT NPOV in the Adina Howard entry? Pacian 11:42, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Though I agree that my phrasing may not be best, I don't know how else to describe it accurately. There is no arguing that Howard's image and marketing showcased her as an object of lust. In her music video she was seen humping a car and spreading her legs wide open (in said outfit.) And, as I mention in the Adina Howard talk page, almost all of her lyrics were sexually explicit. The single cited "Freak Like Me" was literally nothing but Howard cooing about her interest in having kinky sex with other kinky sex lovers. I phrased it in the way I did because, despite the seeming insignifigance of this artist, she WAS a big hit (briefly) and she did open the door for the success of artists like Lil' Kim and Foxy Brown. I encourage you to rephrase anything I entered to be more NPOV if you think it's needed; my only request is that in the future if you put a NPOV warning banner on any entires, you cite something in the talk page so the entrant can SEE what you're talking about and go back and correct it. :) Wikihugs, Pacian 11:53, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Incorrect removal from Chip Reese

You removed the statement about 500k being relatively low and him being a good cash player from Chip Reese. 500k is indeed relatively low, and he's not anywhere near the top 100 all time tournament money winners. Since he's in the Poker Hall of Fame, it's necessary to qualify that by saying he's a top notch cash player. I restored the statement and qualified it further. CryptoDerk 16:46, Sep 12, 2004 (UTC)
