Ivan is a tiny lunar crater located in the region that lies between Oceanus Procellarum to the west and Mare Imbrium to the east. It lies in the midst of a system of rilles named the Rimae Prinz. To the south is the flooded remains of the Prinz crater, and to the east are the Montes Harbinger. The prior designation of this crater was Prinz B before it was renamed by the IAU.
