It was the first Metro in Ukraine and the third one in USSR.

As of 2004, the three Kiev metro lines total about 50 km in length and comprise 42 stations. The system is served by 580 cars and is open daily from 6:00 till 0:00.

History

The first line, 5.2 km long and comprising 5 stations, was open on 6 November 1960, the second one joining on 17 December 1976 and the third one on 31 December 1989.

Lines

There are 3 lines:

  • Svyatoshin - Brovary (Святошинсько-Броварська)
  • Kureniwka - Cherwonoarmiyska (Куренівсько-Червоноармійська)
  • Syrets - Pechersk (Сирецько-Печерська)
