135th Street station (IND Eighth Avenue Line)
135th Street, opened September 10, 1932, is the only local station in the subway system containing 6 tracks between the two side platforms. The two most outer tracks are used by the Template:NYCS B and Template:NYCS C local trains while the two most inner tracks are used by the Template:NYCS A and Template:NYCS D express trains. The other two tracks are not used for revenue service and it is not known why they were installed. In this station, fare controls are all at platform level and there is no mezzanine nor any crossover or crossunder. The full time booths are at the 135th street side (one booth on each side, three stairs on the northbound side, one stair on the southbound side), and the part time sides at 137th Street has one street stair to each side and used to have a booth. There were restrooms at the north end of the southbound platform. Both of the street stairs on the side were built facing Morningside Park and have a 19th Century feel to them. The exit-only stair from the part time northbound side features a nice array of stone, not steel, casting in a Cathedral like setting, originally built in 1932.
