Graham Poll
Graham Poll (born July 29, 1963 in Tring, England) is one of many referees in the FA Premier League.
He is regarded as one of the most prominent referees in the Premiership in recent years, often being in charge of high-profile and potentially volatile clashes of recent times, such as the Manchester United vs Arsenal matches.
The Hertfordshire official has taken charge of many European matches, of which his most important to date was the UEFA Cup final between CSKA Moscow and Sporting Lisbon in 2005. Poll has also taken charge of many international matches, for which he has held a FIFA badge since 1996, refereeing at top FIFA and UEFA tournaments such as Euro 2000, where Poll took charge of France vs Czech Republic, and Norway vs Slovenia in the group stages. Poll also refereed at the 2002 FIFA World Cup Finals in Korea/Japan, where he was the man in black for the game between Italy and Croatia. His first international was the game between Azerbaijan and Finland on the 2nd April 1997.
The League Cup final in 2002 and the 2004 First Division Play Off Final between Crystal Palace and West Ham United are all games to add to a lengthy and growing CV. Poll has also refereed the 2000 FA Cup final between Chelsea and Aston Villa.
During the 2005 - 2006 season, he refereed 46 competitive games, issuing 150 yellow cards, and 6 reds. During the season, he took charge of a number of World Cup qualifiers, and other European games.
Poll will referee at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the only British referee to do so. As far, he has taken charge of the Group G match between South Korea and Togo, in which he gave a red card to Togo captain Jean-Paul Abalo. He will next be refereeing in the match between Saudi Arabia and Ukraine (19th June).
