Welcome to the Military history WikiProject!

Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated quite regularly. You can watch it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines outline some things to include.
- Interested in working on a more complete article? The military history peer review and collaboration departments would welcome your help!
- Interested in a particular area of military history? We have a number of task forces that focus on specific nations or periods.
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Wikipedia.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 00:56, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Somewhat intuitively, "GA-Class" ratings are only assigned to articles that have passed the review at WP:GA; and the article still needs a bit of cleanup before it becomes "A-Class". (We are, incidentally, discussing eliminating the "GA-Class" rating entirely, in order to reduce our dependence on the ouside process; but that might not happen for some time yet. Hope that helps! Regarding VandalProof...
Hello. I was recently (just a minute ago) cleaning out my user talk page, User talk:70.17.55.145. As soon as I cleared out the page, VandalProof immediately reverted my user talk and "warned" me about removing content from Wikipedia without a valid reason. I hesitate to try again, but I would like to clear out my page, as the content is no longer relevant. Thank you and please get back to me on my talk page. 70.17.55.145 17:53, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- The warnings on my page are not vandalism warnings. Vandalism, as defined by the Wikipedia policy on vandalism, is "any addition, deletion, or change to content made in a deliberate attempt to reduce the quality of the encyclopedia." Every edit I make to Wikipedia is in good spirit, and though I have made mistakes, none of them have been deliberate. Removing messages from my own talk page, as long as they are not pertaining to vandalism warnings, is certainly allowed. That is what I am trying to do. 70.17.55.145 18:00, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, and thank you for helping to maintain and expand the high quality of Wikipedia. 70.17.55.145 18:05, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging for Image:Henry survivalcamo.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Henry survivalcamo.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Tagging for speedy deletion
Hi, I notice that you've started tagging some New Pages for speedy deletion using AmiDaniel's VandalProof. Good job. I did notice a couple of things however. You tagged both Omar Chishtie and James Craven after they already had speedy tags on them. This isn't necessarily wrong, but it isn't necessary unless you believe the article violates more than one of the criteria for speedy deletion.
More seriously you are tagging them with the {{delete}} template which is obsolete. You should use one of the more recent WP:CSD tags such as (in both the cases above)) {{db-bio}}. You always need to supply a reason for proposing speedy deletion. If you don't there's a good chance the article won't get deleted. Thanks, Gwernol 09:07, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you. I'll make sure to do that. CynicalMe 09:08, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Mind Your Own Business!
I HATE You! You Suck! You ERASED MY picture of the lizzard for Spider-Man 3! I worked HARD on that!
- 1. You were warned several times to stop including unverified information.
- 2. I didn't erase the picture. CynicalMe 18:18, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
Please help for correction.
Hello, thank you for your message.
Now, I do not understand the reason to which you Reverted my edit. Since my English is very poor, possibly you may be having thought that it was mischievous. However, the present description about the history of camcorder is wrong, If the reason is bad quality of English, please help to write the part using informations I provided.
Thank you for reading my bad text. Best regards. --Nekosuki 18:19, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- The text you replaced said the same thing and was more precise. If you feel you can improve it, please feel free to make changes. CynicalMe 18:22, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- The text I replaced didn't say the same thing. Replaced text said that the world's first camcorder was Betamovie in 1983. My text said that the world's first consumer camcorder was JVC's in 1980 (and the world's first professional use camcorder was BETACAM in 1982). Possibly, in the United States, Betamovie may be the first camcorder (I don't confirm). However, the right history is the turn of VHS, BETACAM, and Betamovie in the world. --Nekosuki 18:35, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ok. i think I know what happened. I think that in the time between when I noticed some vandalism, and when I reverted it, you made your changes. The vandalism i reverted was about something else. CynicalMe 18:36, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Trifecta
New account, ImpeachTheEmperor.
I don't think it should have been reverted, since The Emperor is the only political leader I've seen that has used the term like that, and I've never heard anyone using it as slang as he did. I fear we will have a discussion over this?
Warnings and reversions
Hi CynicalMe. Though it is not a productive edit, this really is not vandalism or a "test", and does not warrant a standard template warning. If you'll look, you'll see that the user did not stop making spelling changes after your warning. In such cases, it's important that you write a message to the well-meaning editor detailing what they're doing wrong. It is also important that you not revert their edits without leaving an edit summary. Best regards, and keep up the good work ×Meegs 19:29, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- My apologies, I stand corrected. I'm not sure what happened there. CynicalMe 07:14, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
VandalProof and Reverting
When reverting vandalism, please be sure to revert all the way back to before the user began that cycle of editing. Otherwise you end up with silliness like a caption about a 'death ray' on Gatling gun =D -- Saaber 12:37, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
VandalProof and the incorrect use of VandalProof and reverting good faith edits by real editors.
Cut it out. BabuBhatt 18:04, 17 June 2006 (UTC) I was using vandalproof to make a legitimate edit. The fact that I used vandalproof is irrelevant. Why dont you move past it? CynicalMe 19:04, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
First Minister
The addition you complained of just happens to be true.

I would like an explanation please
Two days ago, your bot reverted two legitimate changes of mine to Criticism_of_Islam. I had to fool the bot by splitting the change into two inconvenient chunks, mucking up the edit history of the article. I posted a polite message to your talk page asking for an explanation. Instead of responding with an apology, or even responding at all, you deleted the message. - Merzbow 07:00, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
