General Information

The Tenggerese are the descandants of the Majapahit princes. Their population of roughly 100,000 is centered in the Tengger mountains at Mount Bromo in East-Central Java.

Language

The Tenggerese speak an archaic Javanese (Majapahit) dialect. Elements of modern Javanese influences in their speeches can be seen.

Religion

96% of the Tenggerese adhere to the Hindu-Buddhist faith.
