John Green Crosse was born in 1790 in Suffolk, the son of a farmer. He became a Fellow of the Royal Society and a Fellow of the Royal Chiurgical Society and a well know surgeon of his day at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

He is buried in the cloisters of Norwich Cathedral.
