Main Characters

A fun loving, free-wheeling Brazilian spider monkey, Lazlo(voiced by Carlos Alazraqui) is one happy camper. However, with all the rules, routine, and structure of Camp Kidney, Lazlo and his friends have a hard time fitting in with the locals (namely Lumpus and Edward). Lazlo's cheerful, idealistic attitude and overactive imagination towards solving problems doesn't always match Scoutmaster Lumpus' idea of how things should be done. Apparently Lazlo is good at stacking beans and almost broke the world record. Lazlo also has a number 9 or 6 on the back of his head. He also seems to have poor sense of history. In "It's No Picnic", he thinks Napolean fought the Swiss on the Moon, which is false. He is often subject to many slash and Mary Sue pairings.

Raj

One of Lazlo's bunkmates at Camp Kidney, Raj (voiced by Jeff Bennett) is a cautious Indian elephant with some serious hang-ups. He hates messes, cowers from water, snakes and bugs, and is afraid of being alone. It is revealed in the episode "Swimming Buddy" that he has a habit of hiccuping when he is frightened. In spite of his fears, Raj sticks with his friends in their adventures because like them, he loves fun, almost as much as his record collection. He speaks with a distinct Indian accent, loves marshmallows, and sometimes has to bring Lazlo back down to Earth. His secret ambition is to become a professional disc jockey, as shown in "The Nothing Club". In the episode "Float Trippers" it is revealed that Raj has a retainer, and that it was his last day, but if he didn't wear it, his teeth would overgrow. In the episode "Lumpy Treasure" he was the chosen one who would get misquito bites shaped into a map that would lead them to the treasure. Seen in "No Beads, No Business" Raj runs the camp store. Raj has two bellybuttons, which is proven in "Hot Spring Fever" to be his gross secret. Also revealed in "Hot Spring Fever" he gets acne when he is not at the hot springs. It is also revealed that he has a brother who joined the circus because of his teeth and has 57 cousins.

Clam

A small, quirky Albino Pygmy rhino who got his knowledge (as well as the items in his Jelly Bean cabin space) from cereal box tops. Though seemingly dumb, Clam is actually a musical and academic genius and is often misunderstood by others, including Lumpus. Always a protective friend, Clam loves thrill-seeking and chowing down on cereal...especially the kinds with cool prizes in the boxes. He speaks in short "sentences" that almost never exceed three or four words at a time. A running gag about Clam is that nobody on the show can figure out what sort of creature he really is. Many characters have said he is an animal something like a turtle, although this is obviously not true. Clam is voiced by Carlos Alazraqui. He also makes great mustard, or in his words, "zing zing". Clam is also often subjected to slash and Mary Sue parings. However, he often just repeats the last word Lazlo or Raj says. In Camp Samson, it is implied that Clam is sickly when he is in the "Whiney, Sickly Gray Furry Guys With Glasses Club."

Scoutmaster Algonquin C. Lumpus

Lumpus (pronounced Lümpus, voiced by Tom Kenny) is a frustrated stick-in-the-mud moose who's totally selfish and whose last name is always mispronounced. Everything has to be exactly how he likes it to be or else he'll throw a huge tantrum. He really wanted to be Head Master Troop but is "stuck" in his job running Camp Kidney (where he lives year-round) and making sure that no one — especially his least-favorite Bean Scout, Lazlo, and the rest of Jelly Bean Cabin — has any fun. Out of all the scouts, it is obvious that he hates Lazlo the most. This hatred is expressed by having a Lazlo punching bag and the quote" Do you know what I despise more than Camp Kidney and the entire universe? I despise you, Lazlo!" He also has a crush on Squirrel Scout leader Ms. Jane Doe. Nobody, however, knows Lumpus's secret: he loves dolls and he loves playing with them. Also, Lumpus seems to be more childish than the Bean Scouts sometimes. He likes to watch little boy movies like "Mr. Cotton Goes to Bubble Land" or drink his "milky-wilky". In Tree Hugger he wants to chop down the Migrating Mulberry Tree and finish a boat he was making since he was a little boy called the Leaky Lumpus, made from no wood except for that from Migrating Mulberry trees, but his power tools was thrown into Leaky Lake during a tree-chopping ritual which Slinkman and the Jelly Beans tricked him into doing, which ended up in him actually marrying the tree. However, as revealed in The Battle of Pimpleback Mountain, he has a grandfather named General Sherman B. Lumpus, who was attacked by his own men and ended up in a circus. Lumpus's grandfather was last seen cleaning up after the elephants. Also revealed in Dead Bean Drop, Lumpus was the one who made Slinkman mess up at Dead Bean Drop by making him fall out of his log-sled. He got away with it, until Slinkman found out. In Slap Happy he is the one of the legumes who's codename is Brother Lily Toes. Also he has a crooked neck which goes up then forward then up again.

Slinkman

Lumpus' assistant, Slinkman (voiced by Tom Kenny) is a quiet, nervous banana slug who literally has no backbone. He knows the Bean Scout manual cover-to-cover, is loyal, kind, obedient and generally keeps the camp running despite Scoutmaster Lumpus' frequent hissyfits and constant laziness. He seems similar to Mr. Burn's assistant Smithers from The Simpsons. Slinkman has to do a lot of things, but he does love kids, particularly those of Jelly Bean Cabin, and sometimes acts like one of them. He's a master at shadow puppets, complete with an imitation of Scoutmaster Lumpus, a good prankster, and is also a race car aficionado. It was discovered in Slugfest that Scoutmaster Lumpus actually enjoys hanging out with Slinkman since he has worked for five years under Scoutmaster Lumpus, and in "Beans and Pranks", we find out that Slinkman has been pranking on Lumpus every June 9th, because he forgets his birthday all the time. As revealed in The Battle of Pimpleback Mountain, Slinkman hits Scoutmaster Lumpus with a full moon frying pan when he has his "episodes." Also revealed in Dead Bean Drop, Slinkman used to be a daredevil named Super Slug. He succeeded Dead Bean Drop, but fell and ended up in a time capsule with Lumpus and they were free in 2031 in the future with Chip & Skip, because of this, Dead Bean Drop should be considered non-canon. Also Slinkman was a bean scout with Lumpus 15 years ago. Slinkman appearently knows some deadly or jolly wood gnomes which he plays poker with and often use them to scare scouts.

Recurring Characters

Edward Platypus

A stickler for the rules, Edward (voiced by Doug Lawrence) is a platypus with a big, fat grudge against anyone who doesn't follow them. In "Racing Slicks", even though he won the race, he didn't get the biggest trophy. He's constantly coming up with schemes to spoil any fun that Lazlo and his pals might have, especially in "The Nothing Club" where everyone except Lazlo was in an anti-Lazlo club. However, he agrees with Lazlo in "Loogie Llama" that they need to get ol' Spitty back from the Squirrel Scouts because Spitty's one of them. He is nice to Lazlo when Edward was teaching Lazlo how to burp by showing him some of his burp moves and when they win the talent show. He is also apparently the youngest scout, as he was the last scout to reach "big-boy" status in "Movie Night". As revealed in one episode, his real name is Edison and his middle name is left out as T. Nobody, however, knows Edward's secret (until "Hello, Dolly"): he loves dolls and playing with them. He even has a doll named Veronica he got for Christmas. He sleeps in Pinto Cabin with Chip and Skip. Edward is also Camp Kidney's current mascot known as the "Duke of Lice" which is shown in the episode "Mascot Madness". He has a brother whose name is Mel and has three other older brothers. Edward is very often put into slash pairings, but rarely OC pairings.

Chip and Skip

The two clueless dung beetle brothers, Chip and Skip are usually the ones who help Edward carry out his schemes. They're the easiest scouts at Camp Kidney to spot because they're constantly being followed by a big cloud of dirt (similar to Pig-Pen in the Peanuts comics) and flies. Skip proudly wears his awards sash on his uniform to differentiate himself from Chip. Both are voiced by Steve Little. They sleep in Pinto Cabin. In Irreconcilable Dungfrences it is revealed that Skip is 3 seconds older than Chip. Also Raj says that even their arguments don't even make sense.

Samson Clogmeyer

An accident-prone neat freak guinea pig, Samson is usually seen with Edward. He is a disaster just waiting to happen. For example, we learn in "The Wig of Why" when "Madame Lazlo" correctly predicts with the wig on that Samson will be hit with a volleyball, throughout this episode, he wears a helmet and is hit by volleyballs, also in "Snow Beans" he is struck while skiing down the hill. While in "Camp Kidney Stinks", we discover he has a very sensitive nose and refuses to go into the stinkweed with the others. He is also the most ignored camper which is proven in "Camp Samson". However, he is the only one who can sneak into the junk food vault. In aggrivation or at random, he will repeatedly say "merf" or "merfs." He has an assortment of "health buddies" which he keeps next to his bed for his various medical problems. His "buddies" include nasal allergy buddy, asthma buddy, foot fungus buddy, eyeball buddy, and skin rash buddy. Jeff Bennett provides Samson's voice, as his possible female double is Almondine the Owl. In Hot Spring Fever, his last name is revealed to be Clogmeyer, he is part of Fava cabin along with Dave and Ping Pong and his gross secret is that he has fat armpits. In Camp Samson, it's revealed that he is a part of Nerd Club and the "Whiney, Sickly Gray Furry Guys With Glasses Club." In Seven Deadly Sandwiches, it is revealed that Samson is wheat intolerant.

Dave and Ping Pong

A set of long-necked, identical twin loons, except that Ping Pong is taller. "Madame Lazlo" correctly predicted that Ping Pong was allergic to his predictions, but this only happened because Clam was absent-mindedly waving the feather fan at Ping Pong's nose, making him sneeze. They are usually seen saying or mumbling about some boring topic. They're both part of Fava Cabin with Samson. Both are voiced by Doug Lawrence.

The Lemmings

These light green-colored Bean Scout quadruplets named Larry, Leonard, Louie and Liniment carried eliminated contestants from the pine cone sitting contest in "It's No Picnic" with a stretcher, and carry canoes in "Parasitic Pal" and "Float Trippers" can also be briefly seen in "Gone Fishin'" carrying a cow. Meanwhile, they all ran away from Lazlo in "The Nothing Club" when he approached them. However, there have been cases of more than the four previously mentioned and are oddly purple in random episodes. Whenever they are moving together they say "Hup, hup, hup, hup." When Edward tries to pants one of them all of their pants come down at once. All four of their voices are done by Steve Little. All four of these scouts live in Kidney bean Cabin. There is a possibility that they know the lake monster seeing as how they were carrying a cow and in the credits there was a cow moo coming from the monster.

The Squirrel Scouts

Across Leakey Lake at the Acorn Flats Campground, the female counterparts to the Bean Scouts (known as the Squirrel Scouts) can be found. The three most commonly seen Squirrel Scouts are Gretchen, the aggressive and perpetually hungry alligator, Nina Neckerly, the scholarly giraffe (voiced by Jill Talley), Patsy Smiles, the upbeat, chipper mongoose who happens to have a huge crush on Lazlo and will pounce on him any chance she gets (voiced by Jodi Benson). Ms. Jane Doe, the leader of the Squirrel Scouts of Acorn Flats (also voiced by Jodi Benson) is the apple of Scoutmaster Lumpus' eye but her assisting polar opposite Jane Doe's assistant, Miss Mucus (also voiced by Jill Talley) the warthog hates the Bean Scouts and Lumpus. In the episode "Beany Weenies" Miss Mucus actually planned on shutting down Camp Kidney by making them fail their physical test. She is also the person who blows the bugle for the Squirrel scouts to wake up and leads them in their morning routines. Other scouts are mentioned off-screen by Jane Doe, such as Almondine the owl, and Amber the rabbit. There is also Toodie the poodle, Honey the bear and Susie (unknown species).

Commander Hoo Ha

The true leader of Camp Kidney. He gives inspections which brings the whole camp into a nervous wreck, and before hand was only mentioned in the series. That is, everyone except the Jelly Bean Scouts (Lazlo, Raj, and Clam). The penalty for failing is no clean underwear for a year. He is either a buffalo or bison and his name comes from the military exclamation "Hoo-ha!" (or "Hoo-ah!"). Jeff Bennett does his voice. Commander Hoo Ha's episode appearances are The Weakest Link (in the end), Movie Night (seen only in the thought cloud of Lumpus in the beginning) and The Big Cheese (heard on the phone and seen towards the end). He also appeared in Tomato Paste and Beany Weenies, but with a different look. It seems that he doesn't know Slinkman's name. He keeps calling him "Slugman".

Chef Heimlich McMuesli / Wheatgrass Willie

Camp Kidney's cook. As we can tell from the episodes "Meatman" and "Beans and Weenies", McMuesli appears to be a hippie of sorts. He's a vegan, he drives a hippie van (complete with the "Flower-Power" theme) and likes to serve the campers healthy foods and meals. Unfortunately, his cooking is apparently horrible to the point where the scouts turn green when they see his tofu dogs or celebrating when he could not make his "Tomato Surprise" He's rather cheerful but also seems to be rather impatient at times, as demonstrated in the above episodes when his meals are made fun of by Lazlo, or when Clam sprays goop everywhere. He is revealed to be poet in "Miss Fru Fru" when Gretchen read a poem by him about trees, and confiscates soda cans and junk food from other scouts. His reasons are "Soda is for losers," and "Junk food is for junkheads." Carlos Alazraqui provides the voice for this character.

Nurse Leslie

Camp Kidney's nurse, a pink shark. He's usually seen with a cup of coffee in his hand and a rather bored expression on his face. He tends to all the campers' ailments and issues excuses when necessary. He never walks from place to place, instead propelling himself using a wheeled chair that he always sits on. Doug Lawrence provides the voice for him.

Lifeguards Pierre and No-Neck

Camp Kidney's otter lifeguards who assign swimming buddies based on how they do in a test. One small problem, though: They have no idea how to swim, and No-Neck has no neck. Jeff Bennett does their voices. The name Pierre is a French name, suggesting Pierre and No-Neck are from France or from Quebec, a French-speaking province of Canada. They are only seen in "Swimming Buddy" and "Parasitic Pal".

Minor Characters

Big Bean

Big Bean is the leader of all Bean Scouts in the world. Although his name is Big Bean, he is actually a small bean.

Clyde

Clyde is Big Bean's fifty-foot tall bean cousin who likes to scare campers.

Wampum Springs crew

In the episode "The Weakest Link" there is a hotel with four workers. Their names are Sparkling One, Moon Stone, Smooth Pebble, and Big Hairy Mountain Man. Sparkling One is the owner of the hotel. Moon Stone is the introducer of some sort welcoming guests. Smooth Pebble doesn't talk much but he is good with computers because he was the one on the computer. Big Hairy Mountain Man (voiced by Tom Kenny) is a relaxer who is hairy and a mountain man with many specialties like seaweed wrappings and hot tubs.

Tommy and Timmy

Tommy and Timmy are a pair of Whooping Cranes stranded on Itchy Island. They are 70 years old and left camp for the treasure when they were ten. According to the episode, Tommy took out Timmy's ear hair forty years ago. Tommy has thick black eyebrows and Timmy has thick white eyebrows, and make whooping sounds when they are excited.

Nigel Slothworm

A talkshow host for the Scout Chatter show who's just as excited about scouts as much as Lumpus. Matt Frewer plays Nigel Slothworm.

Lamar (Laura)

A sea lamprey who stuck himself (herself) to Lazlo's head and sucked all the blood out of Lazlo and was let go. Also she is the first of three wild animals Lazlo brought to Camp Kidney.

Spitty

A llama who Lazlo called to Camp Kidney and was let go after Lazlo had given him to the Squirrel Scouts (mistakened for a unicorn) and got him back. He is also the second pet Lazlo brought to camp.

Snakey

A Snake who Lazlo brought to camp play with but soon made Lazlo and Patsy think that the little snake ate everyone in camp and was let go like the rest of Lazlo's pets.

Cousin Stinkbug

Chip and Skip's cousin who can make animals stink. He currently goes to a Sunday school because Samson changed his whole personality and life styles.

Mr. Freezy Breeze

An air conditioner which fell from an airplane that was seen in "Over Cooked Beans".

The Migrating Mulberry Tree

A tree that literally migrates from place to place. Once it arrives at Camp Kidney in "Tree Hugger", both Lumpus and Lazlo are enraptured that they have finally seen it. Although Lumpus wants to chop it down to make a wooden canoe, Lazlo, Raj & Clam trick Lumpus into marrying the tree, and Lumpus falls in love with it. He is extremely sad when the tree migrates to Florida.

Meatman

A figure Lazlo had made from his lunch meat and was being used for play until he got very ignored and eat Lazlo. Before the episode ended Meatman had gained the ability to change shape with special features like colors and background music (much like Batman's villain Clayface). At the end he was planning on eating Lazlo and the jellys but it is a big blurr. He was either killed by Clam and Raj like Lazlo said or he ate the jellys and morphed into their bodies.

Lake Monster

A monster who lives in Leaky Lake and plays with his snowglobes and put in his snowglobe collection. Usually he is a vegetarian but whenever he loses his snowglobes by Edward from fishing he gets food cravings for meat.

General Sherman B. Lumpus

Lumpus' great grandfather who was a general during the Civil War. His prized tent "Old Ironside" was actually made from the stolen tents and possessions of his troops. At the end, they turned on him and sent him rolling down the hill onto the top of a train. He was last seen cleaning up after the elephants in the circus.

Super Slug

Slinkman's old dare-devil nickname. Slinkman was Super Slug until an almost fatal crash down Dead Bean Drop almost ended his life. Until Lazlo had found out that Slinkman was a dare devil, Slinkman hadn't noticed that Lumpus had caused Super Slug to crash by simply sticking his foot in front of the speeding log car; just about when it was going to leave the slope.

Bean Scout Bernie

A health dummy used for when Lazlo and the Jellys practiced their health lessons. No one knows where he is now but he is in a much better place, especially better than Jelly Bean Cabin.

Brother Bu-Bu

A legume who makes all the phone calls and is usually the person who receives the secret handshakes.

Edward's Brothers

As seen in "Burpless Bean" the camp called all four of Edward's older brothers who look very successful to watch Edward in his performance. One appears to be a wrestling type of person with muscles. Next to him seems to be a tall basketball player. The next seems to be some sort of rich millionaire who takes everything fancy. the last one seems to be a teenager sort of brother with zits on his face with a sweat shirt on. Only one of them seems to have an official name which is Mel. There is proof that they have been scouts before him like in the "Great Snipe Hunt" in which Edward explained his brother was a camper and Lumpus seems to throw the same thing every year.

Tommy Todd

A troop member from Sherman B. Lumpus's fleet who got his ancient record player stolen from Sherman. He is one of many victims that Sherman has stolen stuff from.

Veronica

A doll who Edward received when he was young on a Christmas day. Apparently he was so excited about Veronica that he donated his other toys to charity. In the episode "Hello Dolly", they compared her having "marshmellow-like hair, a pickle-like body, and toothpick-like arms". Edward got a Veronica collection including a mansion, dollhouse, convertible, and etc.

Rosemary

A pig who is originally from Switzerland and made all sorts of pies. She also knows what kind of things her pies do like cure gross out love.

A turtle who stacked as many beans as Lazlo did but did it 120 years ago and born in the navy.

Nothing Club

A club that Lazlo made so he wouldn't feel lonely. When Chip joined, everyone from Edward's club and Nina went to the Nothing Club. In this club, their mascot is a T-Rex from the king of France, bathrooms are open to the public, a hall of mirrors and a dance floor are better than Edward's club.

Melvin

Melvin is a blue stuffed bear used in the episode "Slap Happy" that Lazlo brought up in the new handshake after the toga jump though the ring of fire.

Tarson

He's a bear with dental problems and a bad temperament. He's a waiter of Beef Lumberjacks and also a lumberjack. He cuts beef with a chainsaw and even cuts tables and a bus, and he whats to cut Lumpus's head. Lumpus is in a wooden board behind the restaurant, mainly to compensate for the food they ate, but didn't pay for in "Prickly Pining Dining" (where Lazlo, Raj and Clam are due to clean the toilet with toothbrushes). It is revealed that Tarson likes bean stacking in "I've Never Bean In a Sub".

Smell Fairy

A fairy who appears when someone who can't stand stink goes into stinkweed. His real name is Odouriferous. His motto is "sniff sniff" and he give everyone a new nose. He is possibly a skunk fairy, due to him having a skunk-like tail and looking like one in general, and also for irony because of his job.

Tomato scouts

Tomato scouts are graduated scouts that have collected all the known badges. Before becoming one, Commander Hoo-Ha has to approve them personally. They are then sent to a military type camp called Camp SkullCrush. Edward almost became one and Lumpus has actually been through the experience. It is led by Commander Hoo-Ha and according to him you come an eager young lad and you leave a hardened man, ready for the cold, cruel world. According to Commander Hoo-Ha, "Tomato scouts never leave the warzone!"

Bean and Squirrel Scouts

Fred

A walrus scout from Camp Kidney.

Milt (a.k.a. Sheldon)

A hippo scout from Camp Kidney who lost his dignity the most. The skill he did for the talent show in "Burpless Bean" was just simply throwing a red ball from one hand to the other without looking. Apparently in "Campers All Pull Pants Down" he is Milt but in "Burpless Bean he is known as Sheldon. Sheldon could be his nickname. Another possibility is that he might be twins of those names (though both are not present at the same time). A third possibility is that Lazlo or Edward probably don't know this scout's name too well.

Chuck

A pig scout from Camp Kidney whose name was revealed when Edward was pantsing everyone in "Camper Pull All Pants Down."

Norman

A goat scout from Camp Kidney. He, Milt and Chuck live in Baked cabin.

Gordon

A bear scout from Camp Kidney. According to Edward he doesn't have a name and he's not supposed to speak.

Almondine

An owl scout from Acorn Flats.

Amber

A rabbit scout from Acorn Flats.

Toodie

A poodle scout from Acorn Flats.

Honey

A bear scout from Acorn Flats.

Mort

A pelican scout from Camp Kidney.

A island in Leakey Lake filled with Mosquitos and traps that guard the treasure. Tommy and Timmy lived there for 60 years and it became a burial ground for dead campers.

Leakey Lake

A murky lake where it needs drenching every once in a while. According to the beans there are bodies of dead outlaws who's fingernails are still growing, a plug which comes unplugged, a serpent monster and a whirlpool which sink your boat down like a spider in a toilet and you can fishing for fish and junk.

Camp Kidney

The camp where most of the show takes place with Leakey Lake. The campers only attend it in the summer. According to the sign, when you leave, don't steal anything. The scouts that take residence there are called the bean scouts, and the Squirrel Scouts are welcome to visit. Camp Kidney's activities are: capture the flag, time capsules, talent shows, wheel of duties, leaf raking, shaving the scoutmaster's back, being Scoutmaster for a day, running the camp store, being camp therapist, drenching leaky lake, swimming, sailing, volleyball, baseball, water skiing, surfing, snorkeling, fishing, painting, puzzles, playing instruments, egg toss, ping pong, seesaw, camp mascot auditions, root beer float drinking contests, cleaning the forest, garbage duty, doing nothing, security shift, and there are many others written on the wheel of duties. Lazlo, Raj and Clam are from the Jelly Cabin. Edward, Chip and Skip are from the Pinto Cabin. and Samson, Dave and Ping-Pong are from the Fava Cabin. Leonardo, Larry, Liniment and Louie live in Kidney Bean Cabin. Norman, Milt and Chuck from Baked Bean Cabin. Camp Kidney uses beads for currency at the camp store. The camp store's items are rakes, pants, chicken milk, razors, chipss, nose spray, sugar cubes, boxes, and some other items. Camp Kidney is obviously underfunded camp. Supporting details are broken snorkling masks and a broken dock. Camp Kidney was almost shut down in "Beany Weenies" when Miss Mucus reported it to Commander Hoo-ha, but just as Lumpus was signing the dismissal form, the pencil broke.

Acorn Flats

Acorn Flats is the camp across Leakey Lake full of girl scouts called the Squirrel Scout with obviously better facilities. They are training to be ninja's in pretty outfits. Also they have a watch tower to make sure nothing bad happens and to make sure that bean scouts don't come into camp, but not Lumpus. Acorn Flats activities are: snail bathing, hornet racing, scummy dipping, scummy snail racing, pinecone sitting, Tug-O-War, High Light, Ms Fru Fru pageants, and selling cookies (and a related business company for the cookies. Appearently they have a midevil battlefield called Madison Squirrel Garden which is a reference to Madison Square Garden.

Camp SkullCrush

A hard-core military camp led by Commander Hoo-Ha. It is where scouts go once they have collected all the badges and graduated, but unfortunately, they came there through fake badges and most likely, according to the title, got their skulls crushed. The sign says "Be a man" and the meals there are "all you can eat" consisting of greul, dirt, brine, and coffee grinds. Edward almost got transferred in the episode "Tomato Paste" but cried at the last second and was sent back.
