The childrens fable about the brave little boy who refuses to be swayed by the huckster tailors who bilk the emporer, and the kingdom, out of his fabulous kingly garments by replacing them with magic invisible ones. Used today as a metaphor, especially in political and sociological situations, for any truth held in denial by the majority. Example: " They've assured us that there are no side effects to (nuclear energy, tobacco, auto emissions, silicon, etc.), but let's face it, the emporer has no cloths (on)."
