Karl Sanders
Karl Sanders is the vocalist/guitarist from the Egyptian-themed death metal band Nile and was born in Greenville, South Carolina. He is known for his extremely fast and technical guitar work. Karl is endorsed by Jackson Guitars.
As well as playing in Nile he has also played guest solo in bands such as Polish death metal band Behemoth. Before creating Nile, Sanders was in a thrash metal band during the late 1980s and played local shows with the young Morbid Angel and other US death metal bands.
He led his band Nile to a wide acclaim and respect in the death metal community. Many critics have claimed that Nile saved death metal by redefining the genre so it is not just about the gruesome and disgusting.[citation needed]
Solo project
Sanders began his own solo side project in 2004 when there were a lot of instruments and experimental ideas that were originally intended for Nile but never were used. Much of the music that he plays includes similar elements of his band Nile, but holds a more chilling quality of acoustic vibration.
He has currently only released one solo full-length album, Saurian Meditation, released on October 26th, 2004 under the Relapse record label.
