Jay Gibbons is a baseball player with the Baltimore Orioles. The first baseman and outfielder had a somewhat disappointing year in 2004, hitting .245 to date and slugging only 10 homers, down from his .277, 23 homer year in 2003. He will have lasik surgery after the season to improve his declining eyesight, which went from 20-10 to 20-35 in only a few months. He has played four years with the Orioles.

Jay hails from Rochester, Michigan and played college ball at Los Angeles State. He is reputed to be the nephew of late former Massachusetts Governor Endicott "Chub" Peabody.
