Rice rocket

A Rice Rocket is a derogatory term used to deride the Japanese made sports bikes. The term is derived from the speed of the motorcycles(rocket), and the "Japanese" nature of the vehicles(rice). Usually, people that use this term believe that American vehicles are superior to Japanese made vehicles.

Recently, the term rice rocket was also adopted by critics of a recent wave of self-modified Japanese automobiles, particularly those that are held to have been altered in poor taste, like 2 Fast 2 Furious cars. Critics defend the use of the term due to the garish appearance and lacking performance of some such vehicles. Some critics, however, often cannot discern accurately the difference between merely garish modified vehicles and those that are tuned to high-performance levels. See Rice burner
