I run a small outsourcing business in Latin America. I think that unless we take great care we are going to design computers that will completely enslave us in order to solve the myriad problems that humanity on this planet faces right now. As someone involved in bettering the functionality of computers in the internet in my own work I dont want my work to end up being used to enslave the human spirit and wish more people were concerned about this issue. its not just that we are designing much more intelligent and much more interconnected (through the internet) computers and software it is that we are designing computers to control us because the authorities dont trust us, and with the terrible events in Bombay on the 11th July one can see why but all the same designing computers that can read and even control our minds should not be rushed into blindly and with little understanding of the energies we are playing with. Humanity needs to cultivate a spirit of consciousness and moral upliftment if we are to avoid this slavery.
