Max Hardcore (born Paul F. Little on August 10, 1944 in Racine, Wisconsin, USA) is a controversial and unique male porn star and producer whose films usually feature him engaging in variety of sexual encounters with young women who dress and act like prepubescent girls. He has faced obscenity charges and charges of simulating child pornography (no longer illegal in the U.S.), but has never been convicted of these.

Hardcore's films are considered by some to be highly obscene—more so than most commercially available pornography. Some critics say that his works are misogynistic.

Some of his other names include Jesse's Bush, Matthew Poulsen, Vince Hardcore, Reuben Hertz-Burger, and Sam Shivvy.

Common themes

In some of his films, usually only available to the European market, Hardcore urinates in the mouths of the actresses. Graphic anal sex predominates over vaginal intercourse in his films, and anal to oral activity is common. One unique feature of his films is a setup where he inserts a test tube-shaped cylinder in a woman's anus. A long plastic tube connects the cylinder to her mouth. Hardcore then urinates in the cylinder while the woman sucks the urine out into her mouth through the tube, or she simply siphons out Hardcore's ejaculation.

Other films involve deep throating and vomiting. The actresses vomit and sometimes collect it in a large glass bowl, sometimes visible throughout the scene. In some scenes, Hardcore draws lipstick across the face, vagina, or anus of the actress. Infrequenty, he or another actress slaps the face of an actress.

The plots of Hardcore's videos usually involve him deriding the young women, calling them sluts and whores, and often involves him "tricking" them into performing with the promise of a modeling contract or by playing to their vanity. He not only physically humiliates them, he (according to his characters) makes them revel in their worthlessness as people. He usually has the actresses refer to him as Mister.

Hardcore, who often appears wearing nothing but socks and his signature cowboy hat, is usually the only male actor in his films. The actresses who appear in his films usually dress in very bright and colorful child-like clothing and sport pigtails. Most of the sex scenes take place upon a bright yellow leather couch.

While widely seen as an outlaw and the 'unacceptable face of porn' within the industry, it is worth noting that Hardcore's trademark scenarios, dialogue and positions have redefined American pornography, bringing anal sex, anal gaping, spitting, gagging, drooling and the unabashed degradation of female performers into the mainstream.

Controversy

Although Hardcore often depicts his actresses as young and sometimes beneath the age of consent, they are not actually under 18. In one of his films, an actress over the age of 18 was portraying someone younger, and the fictional character states that she is 12 years old. This prompted the United States government to bring charges of child pornography against Hardcore which resulted in an indictment. The government did not dispute the fact that the actress was over the age of 18; they brought charges based solely on the fact that the actress was portraying a character who was under the age of consent.

Just before the case was brought to trial, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the statute prohibiting adults from portraying children in films and books was unconstitutional (See Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition [1]). Based on this ruling, the child pornography charges against Hardcore were dismissed. The city of Los Angeles charged Hardcore with distribution of obscenity, but these charges were dismissed after a jury failed to reach a verdict. An additional obscenity charge was subsequently levied against him by L.A., again resulting in a hung jury. The government has since ceased prosecuting him. Hardcore commented that "it was a frivolous waste of public resources."

Felicity

In 2001, Hardcore faced charges when a British documentary filmmaker allegedly filmed Hardcore raping porn actress Felicity, who had come to audition for one of his films after being referred by porn agent Dick Nasty. However, Felicity, through her own free will, returned to do a second filming. [2] No charges were ever filed. There was, though, an enormous fallout after the incident, which saw a temporary backlash against the British pornography industry. Following the incident, Hardcore released a statement reading:

I would like to express my apologies to Felicity for any misunderstandings, as well as all the viewers of the program who found it so offensive. This is not the real Max Hardcore at all. In any case, let me assure you that I have not and never will be releasing any of this material to the public, and will never again deal with her agent.

Many who read the statement after seeing the program found Hardcore's apology to be insincere, as he is featured in the documentary threatening Felicity and repeatedly insulting her when she refused to participate in certain extreme sexual acts (such as being forced to vomit by having Hardcore trigger her gag reflex with his penis). However, it later emerged that the porn actress, Felicity, had full prior knowledge of the sex acts that she was asked to do although she claimed at the time that she had no prior knowledge. Such sex acts are common in Hardcore's films and actresses are made aware in advance of what they're expected to do.

On October 5, 2005, the offices of Max World Entertainment were raided by the FBI. Five video titles and the office's computer servers were seized, ostensibly for research toward a federal obscenity indictment or a charge related to the 2257 record-keeping law. In response to this action, Hardcore released the following statement: "Once again, the government is wasting tax dollars and otherwise invaluable law enforcement resources to try to force a minority view of morality on all of America. Five of my movies have been targeted by the Federal Prude Patrol. There is no indication of any crime to be alleged except obscenity. If indicted, I will fight to protect my liberty, as well as the liberty of consenting adults to watch other adults engage in lawful, consensual, pleasurable sexual action. Shame on the Bush Department of Justice. I am proud of the movies I make and proud of those who buy and sell those movies."
