Pokémon Emerald is the fifth game in the Pokémon video game series for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. It follows Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

The game is currently released in Japan, and the English version will be released in 2005.

Game information

Pokémon Emerald is pretty much a revamped version of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire much like how Pokémon Crystal was a revamped version of Pokémon Gold and Silver.

Known information about Pokémon Emerald includes:

  • Package is green and features Rayquaza
  • Set in Hoenn region as before, but with differences and new places
  • Ruby/Sapphire heroes with new clothes (i.e. the some of their clothes have green on them)
  • People sometimes join in to battle against you with someone else on certain routes
  • Pokémon have animations before battle like in Pokémon Crystal
  • The story involves both Team Magma & Team Aqua, and new events involving them occur
  • The gyms are upgraded, the leader's Pokemon (same with Elite Four; however, Phoebe's and Glacia's teams remain unchanged) are altered slighty, and Wallace (leader of Sootopolis, now Elite Four Champion) has been replaced by Ardan, also a water trainer.
  • For whoever knows what happened to Steven: he is now in Meteor Falls. He has no alterations to his team.
  • The player can battle the Gym Leaders again, with the Gym Leaders having improved Pokémon teams.
  • Some Gold/Silver/Crystal Pokémon not available in Ruby/Sapphire are now catchable.
  • Both Groudon & Kyogre appear
  • A new park called the Battle Frontier where there are seven different zones.
  • A new exclusive Deoxys form: Speed
  • Comes packaged with the Wireless Adapter and is compatible with FireRed and LeafGreen in this respect.
  • Can take the same tickets from FireRed/LeafGreen for acquiring Deoxys, Ho-oh, and Lugia. Also a new ticket is used for acquiring Mew. As usual, the tickets are only obtainable at a Nintendo event..
