Delhi School of Economics
Delhi School of Economics, started in 1949, is a college affiliated to the University of Delhi.
History
The Delhi School of Economics was conceived by a group of visionary educationists like Professor V. K. R. V. Rao and supported by the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, who was its first president. It was a project to create a world class center for advanced studies in social sciences.

Departments
The departments of the Delhi School of Economics are part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and comprise
Commerce and Management Studies departments within the Delhi School of Economics till these were separated out as the Faculty of Commerce and Business Studies (in 1992) and the Faculty of Management Studies (in 1972) respectively.
The twin programmes of Master in International Business (MIB) and Master of Human Resources and Organisational Development (MHROD) under Department of Commerce and Business were introduced in 1995. They are very prestigious courses and attract leading corporations with 100% placements (the average compensation being in the range of Rs. 5.5 lakhs)
